purushothaman_p
Hi, I am novice and got a Olympus C5050. I have been trying to get good picture. Out of my few hundred attempts, I could not get even one good shot without noise. Indoors, outdoors, closup, different white balance and all kinds. I am using the default HQ mode and built in flash. Previousely, I was using a Canon P&S camera. I was getting excellent pictures, everytime. Any tips to improve my photos. -regards, -puru
henricus
Puru, <p>Post an example of what you are talking about. I have the older version of this camera and it is a stellar performer. I think the C5050 even has a Zeiss lens, if I'm not mistaken. It could be anything. Post a pic and let us see.
pedro_vasconcelos1
Two suggestions: reduce the camera sharpnening to -2 or -3 and shoot at ISO 64 (the program mode will try to use this if possible when the ISO is set to AUTO). Incidentaly, if you are going to critically inspect image detail, you might find visible HQ compression artifacts that are not noise. I would use SHQ compression or even TIFF just to get a better idea of the image quality the camera is capable of.
bill_sams
As a C4040 user, I'll second the recommendation for using SHQ instead of the HQ setting. SHQ is an outstanding compromise between TIFF quality and HQ file sizes.
