paul_ostrof
Olympus tech support says 72 ppi is normal for my camera. I think it should be much higher. Right? What can I do?
lex_jenkins
My C-3040Z defaults to 72ppi. I don't see any way to override the default. If I need to change it for printing I do so with image editing software.

bernard_bennett
Hi Paul! The resolution of your camera is quite normal, To judge the quality of your resolution what you need to compare is the max res, not the dpi. According to my references the 5050 has a max of 2560x1920, this is better than the 2048x1536 of my C740. Taking a sample picture at my max resolution and trying to print it at 72 dpi would result in a print of 72x55cms; Resampling the picture to 300dpi gives a print of 17.2x13cms. I haven't changed the number of pixels, just the scale at which they are printed. You will not see any change in the size of your picture as it's displayed on the monitor, but load the file into an editing prog and goto print preview, make sure 'fit to page' is unchecked, and see how much of the photo appears on the page; now resample the image to 300dpi. and look at print preview again. I think this is the best way of illustrating the effects of dpi, hope it helps!
