howard_clapsaddle
Do any OM-users know of a way to adapt a Russian fisheye to the OM 4Ti? Usually it's adapted to the Pentax screw mount but--there's always hope!
lex_jenkins
Dunno, Howard. One alternative you might consider are the high quality fisheye adapters once available from Spiratone and Kenko. These are designed to fit into filter threads of any compatible lens. With a 50mm lens you get the full fisheye effect. Unlike other such doodads I've seen the Spiratone and Kenko adapters were really well made - solid metal, nicely machined right down to the domed metal threaded lens caps. Either should be available used for well under $100; at least, that's the going rate at local camera shows which aren't usually sources for great bargains in my area. Last time I saw a Spiratone the seller was asking $75 and the seller of a Kenko wanted $50. If I was seriously interested I would have dickered down a bit. These don't appear to be identical models either. The lens barrels are a bit different, the cosmetics were very different. Just a thought... neild
Howard, you'll need to check the lens registration distances for the various lens brands to see if it is possible: Olympus OM (bayonet) 46.00mm; Pentax Screw (M42x1 thread) 45.46mm - as the OM distance is ever-so-slightly greater, then it should be possible to adapt it to your camera (you may need to find a good machinist, though!).
Lex, I used to have a Kenko fisheye as you describe: it gave me true 180˚ circular fisheye view on a 50mm lens! However, I thought the image quality was very poor - extremely soft, especially around the edge. Maybe the russian lenses will not be perfect, but the surely would give a better image than this?!
