alex_tudor
I know that Fuji is supposed to come out with a new Superia X-TRA 400 this year. Has it come out yet, and if so how can one tell if it's the new version? I've seen new *packaging* of X-TRA 400/800. Is that the new one? The new X-TRA 400 packaging has a picture of a father and daughter playing on the beach and says "All Occassions". But nothing like NEW or anything. Do I assume this is the new X-TRA or just new packaging? Thanks, Alex
brainbubba_motornapkins
What's supposed to be new about it? I've been shooting some quite recently and found greens to be be a tad oversaturated, otherwise nearly indistiguishable from the Superia 200. alex_tudor
From the press release at PMA 3/03: Alex Product Specifications The world's finest grain in the ISO 400-class films, incorporating the new Super Fine-SIGMA Grain Technology, a further advance over the Fine-SIGMA Technology introduced in the Fujicolor Superia X-TRA 800 film. Developed for extremely fine grain and enhanced sensitivity by reducing by about half the thickness of the hexagonal crystals used in current Superia X-TRA 400, the Super Fine-SIGMA Grain Technology produces exceptional image quality in low-light conditions and enlargements. Photographers will notice smooth, natural skin tones with improved granularity.
