frank_oddsocks
There is a Lewis Morley retrospective running in Melbourne at the State Library of Victoria. Morley was one of the photographers from "swinging 60s" London. This exhibition appears to be the travelling version of the one that was on at the National Portrait Library in Canberra earlier this year. Catalogues from that are advertised forsale. The genre is environmental and posed portraits of celebrities. The works range from the earlier classics (Christine Keeler on a chair, Michael Caine in close up) to his later work in Australia. For fans of the old stuff, there is the original contact sheet ofthe Keeler session. There are some nifty colour backlit transparencies about 1m across. There is also a rivetting portraitof Juni Morosi and a very fine one of Morley's wife. The exhibition is on until 23 November 10am-5pm except public holidays. Just up the road at RMIT's Storey Hall are some originalBauhaus (Dessau) prints, also with free admission.
