pieter_van_slooten
Has anyone experience with the mr-9 battery adapter in combination with the Olympus 35rc?I like to know if everything works fine and if you can screw the batterycover on all the way? Kind regards, Pieter van Slooten
lex_jenkins
Just use a size 375 zinc air hearing aid battery. Cheap, voltage/output is very close to the original cell, lasts up to 6 months after the tape has been removed from the air vent.
pieter_van_slooten
If you use this hearing-aid battery, do you have to adjust your asa setting? I shoot mainly slides so I need a correct light reading. Kind regards, Pieter van Slooten
lex_jenkins
The 675 zinc air hearing aid batteries are 1.4 volts compared with 1.33 for the old mercury cells. More important, tho', tests show the output characteristics match those of the mercury cells more closely than any other battery, and that's throughout the life of the zinc air cell. Take a look at this web page: http://members.tripod.com/rick_oleson/index-111.html I've used these to meter for slow slide films like Kodachrome 64 and Velvia (the old ISO 50 variety) and have always gotten good exposures. Conversely, the one time I tried size 625 alkaline replacement cells for my Canonet I underexposed an entire roll of Kodacolor 25. Sad, because that was the last time I ever saw that fine film. gary_watson
The MR9 works well in most applications. It is expensive and is a bit thicker than a PX625, which can cause problems. Two MR9 adapters in my old Nikon Photomic FTN finder is a tight fit. Some battery covers are very shallowly threaded, others aren't. The zinc-air hearing aid battery solution is worth a try, especially since it's cheap and does work.
