Recommended Posts

I am pleased to announce that the new main moderator of the

Forum will be Neil Poulsen. For several years, Neil has been very

active in the LF community in this forum, as well as in the real

world, having organized the Portland LF events. The forum will also

be co-moderated by Rob Barker, from the UK, an experienced

moderator and a workshop teacher.

Thank you for all who volunteered. I have passed your names to

the new moderators, should they need additional help.

With such a good team in place, I am stepping down for real from

moderating

the forum. If you've appreciated my efforts over the past five years,

now I will ask you a favor: check out my personal photography

site at

http://www.terragalleria.com, and in particular the LF images

that are for now at

http://www.terragalleria.com/parks/parks-lf.html, and if you

don't dislike too much

what you see, please consider linking from your website.

BTW anyone wanting a link to their LF photography site can

add it at

http://www.largeformatphotography.info (follow "Links to LF photographers").

It's been a privilege to help build such a great community.

Thanks to all for your participation.

Tuan, thanks for your efforts in starting this forum and moderating it for many years.

OK Neil and Rob, no honeymoon period. Your first task needs to be enforcing the selection of categories for new threads. It appears that virtually all recent threads went in as "uncategorized," wreaking havoc with the archive. First, instill discipline. Then, as time permits (ha!), please retroactively assign categories to threads started within the last year.

Thanks to you both and good luck!

I'd like to add my thanks and appreciation too Tuan. I discovered this site early on in my large format usage and it's been invaluable to me in choosing equipment, having a place to ask questions, and just making me feel a part of a community of like minded people who are so knowledgeable and generous with their time. I certainly wish you the best and will be happy to add a link to your pages.

Tuan,

I would also like to thank you for the groundwork you laid and attended to for longer than you had planned. This site, although not problem-free (that would be an impossibility!) had been a great resource for old pros and newbies alike. You are leaving two seemingly capable people at the helm. I wish you the best in your new endeavors.

I welcome Neil and Rob, the new moderators to their new positions!

DG

Tuan, as a new LF user, I've visited your site many times and will also add your link to my page. This forum and especially the largeformatphotography.info page have been invaluable in my getting comfortable with the format -- much greater resources than even Stroebel's or Simmons's books. Thanks for all the work. You and this community have inspired photographers who otherwise wouldn't have tried LF to give it a try and find out what they've been missing!

Tuan,

Thanks for everything. I came to this forum 146 posts ago wanting to learn to shoot 8x10 but with only a 35mm background. The forum you founded and moderated helped me along every step of the way. Now I am close to opening my first show (even if it's in my own home!), and however things turn out I've gotten immense satisfaction from LF photography. I couldn't have done it without the forum. All the best, Nicholas.

The largeformatphotography.info site continues to be a source of invaluable info to all: both beginner and experienced and the act of starting this forum way back when, has had a genuine impact on LF photography on the Web and off by providing a locus for the dissemination of ideas and knowledge - something truly to be proud of (and I don't say such things lightly...). Hats off, and 3 cheers to you.

Thanks,

A Big Thank You to you, Tuan, for making this possible. You have always had an invisible hand in moderating this forum which made it one of the nicest ones on the Web. An invaluable resource for its practitioners.

And a Warm Welcome to Neil and Rob.
