john schroeder
It's sounds like a stupid question but nowhere can I find the standard dimentions of a wallet size print. Standard print sizes are always listed as "Wallet", "3.5x5", "4x6", "8x10/12", and so forth. How big is the wallet, "1.75x2.5"?
mark_davidson
John, This is one of the enigmas of photofinishing. I have always been told that a wallet is 2.5x3.5 inches. If true that will not fit in anyone's wallet. I have seen "wallet" photos range from 1.75x2.5 up to 2.75x3.75. I think that the variety stems from the need of labs producing package prints to fit a few small prints on the leftover space on a unit of standard size. Frames for wallet prints are 2.5x3.5 and 2x3. Good Luck mark

stephen hazelton
I remember getting photo packets of the kid's school pictures that had photos smaller than 2x3's, though I'm not sure what they called them. In my wife's walled, I find photos 2-1/2" x 3-1/2", 2-1/2 x 3-1/4, 2-1/4" x 3-1/2", 2-1/4" x 3-1/4", and 1-1/8" x 1-5/8". Any of these could be called wallet size. The two 2-1/4" x 3-1/4" photos are maybe 15 years old.
andy_piper2
Technically, a 'wallet size' is 1/4 of a sheet of 5x7 paper (or half a 3.5 x 5) - 2.5 x 3.5. In the oldy days this would be a contact print from a "C"-size box-camera/folding-camera negative on 120/620 film - approx. 2.25 x 3.25 inches - with a white border all around. (Remember prints with white borders?) Now that labs use roll paper in a variety of widths, it's probably more variable.
