30 days weather forecast

Living in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US, all I can say it hard for our weather people to forcast for the same day, let alone a few days out.

That being said the best way to ask locals of the areas that you plan on visiting how things are so far for the period that you plan on visiting. But that depends on when you are planning visiting also. For example in May we have below noraml temps and very wet. June and July were more normal, but with temps just a bit below normal.

The only thing you can be sure of is death and taxes....

I would suggest contacting a meteorologist at a news station in the area you are traveling for some statistical information (say for the last 10/20/30 years). I did this when I travelled to South Africa last year and it really helped a lot for planning my trip.

Weather patterns are chaotic (see Edward Lorenz), and forecasts beyond 10 days tend to be no more useful than the long term average. Seasonal patterns may have a slight degree of predictability (in temperate lattitudes), but this is not an exact science. Monthly averages should be available from many good reference sources.

As an earlier poste wisely pointed out, you're not going to get any reasonably accurate weather forecast for a 30-day window. But climatic statistics can tell you what to expect for a given period of the year at a specific place. Depending on the variability of the weather patterns on each part of the world, the chance you have to experience what is consider 'normal' for that time of year may vary from 'dead sure' to 'not sure'. For example, when they say it never rains in Atacama, Chile, they bloody mean it. When they say it never rains in August in Athens, Greece, this means it's just unlikely, but there were 2-day downpours in August both last year and the year before last.

For decades' worth of climatic statistics check ouy <b><a href="http://www.worldclimate.com/">worldclimate.com</a></b>

Also, a good place to look for weather-related sites and services is <b><a href="http://www1.drive.net/evird.acgi$pass*4485237!_h-www.landings.com/_landings/pages/weather.html">Landings</a></b> - there's plenty of good links to be found there.

Hey, we're getting monsoonal thunderstorms in Los Angeles now! Go with the percentages and have alternatives in mind. Actually they can make general predictions based on El Ninos or lacks thereof but that's still just an educated guess. If a place "always" rains in September, that's still likely, etc. Research is needed because you do have anomalies like summer monsoonal thunderstorms in the southwest deserts. They aren't extensive or continuous but if you assume desert equals no rain ever, that would be a mistake.

Thirty-day forecasts are made regularly (or were before I retired) by The National Weather Service. The trouble is that they are very general. Accuracy is sort of so-so, but statistically the NWS figures that it is about 85 percent accurate. These forecasts will indicate if average, above average or below average precipitation is expected. Same for Temperature values. Nothing specific at all. Contact your nearest National Weather Service office, usually located at the nearest larger Airport. Beyond that source for such information I cannot help.
