mskovacs
I have a few rolls of 120 film that were wound straight through my Rolleiflex before I got the hang of the automat loading system. I find with Fuji films I have to wind very slowly or it doesn't load properly. Is there any easy way to roll the films again for use? I tried doing it in the Rolleiflex but the film isn't taped on the far side and gets snagged-up.
lex_jenkins
I tried rerolling a practice roll last year. Even in daylight I couldn't get it rerolled neatly enough that it would cycle reliably through my Rolleiflex 2.8C. For me at least rerolling 120 is a no-go. Maybe someone with better dexterity can manage.
robert_davis2
People roll 120 film onto 620 spool so obviously it's possible. Maybe do a search on 620 film? Somebody must have posted hints on rerolling the film.
lex_jenkins
I don't doubt that 120 film can be rerolled for other cameras but the Rolleiflex automat system is a picky bastard and hangs up at the slightest hint of trouble.
My Rollei 2.8C (which probably needs a CLA) tends get stuck after the first exposure and then again on the slight additional thickness of the sealing tape at the end of the roll. This tendency varies according to film base thickness.
Nothing seems to faze my Yashica 635 even tho' it also has an automatic counter system. But the film doesn't pass between rollers as it does with the Rollei. Older cameras, like folders, would likely be even less picky.
richard_urmonas
It is fairly easy to re-roll 120. There are a few things to watch. 1) Do not unroll too much at once. Keep the two spools quite close together, and keep the paper taught. 2) When you reach the end of the film (the leading edge in this case) it is not taped. The important thing is to keep it held firmly against the paper backing as it goes on the spool. Remember to keep the two spools close together. 3) When you reach the taped end of the film you will probably have a little slack in either the paper or film. Just gently peel the tape away from the paper (leave it attached to the film). Now just roll uop the remaining paper. The pressure from winding onto the spool will tape it back in the correct position. Lex. You Rolleiflex is well overdue for a CLA. Rollei's are fairly tollerant of film irregularities. You probably have some gummed up or dried out lubricants in the film metering mechanism.
