Aoresteen
In September 2001 my wife and I sold our home in Atlanta and moved to Orlando. Since then I've been without a darkroom. Today I just finished developing 40 rolls of film (12 rolls 35mm, 5 rolls 127, and 23 rolls of 120). Nothing like playing with water and HC-110 to make a great night! We built a new home and I added on a 20 x 24 studio, a 10 x 16 print finishing room, and a 10 x 16 darkroom. For a year everything was in boxes. I did drapes, landscaping, etc before the darkroom (by order of she-who-must-be-obeyed). Last Memorial day I started finishing the darkroom and print finishing room. I built an 8' counter top for the Beseler enlargers, and a 16' sink. I put in a 12' counter top with a 4' x 4' matt cutter area. At last I have an area to drymount and cut mats. Yesterday I sealed the darkroom door and was open for business. Now I have about 200 rolls to proof this weekend. I should get caught up making prints from all these rolls in about 2 years. So if you have been thinking about building a darkroom, all I can say is do it now! It's great to have your own darkroom to work in. Now I'm going to bed! kevin_kolosky
did you say you had a spare bedroom there?
dougmiles
Wow! Tony, I'm envious! Such a great-sounding work area. I guess I'm lucky to have space at all, a narrow half-bath with a 5 ft darkroom sink (built over the existing vanity sink and toilet), two mixing faucets with thermometers, just enough room for a Beseler 23C, and a closet for neg storage and accessories. I can do up to 11x14. For horizontal working area, I can fit sections of particle board in the top lip of the sink. The darkroom hasn't been active for about 10 years, so like you I have a backlog of fun! Best wishes...
