Reputation of SMC Pentax 200 f=2.5? (simple K-mount)

I 've seen such a lens at a store and am wondering if it might be

good or worth its money (280,-$). It might be nice to have such a

fast prime and I know what to use it for, but I don't want to waste

my money on a softener. - Where can I get information or comparing

tests? - Thanks.

Don't own the lens, but I believe it was a good "professional" lens from the mid 70's. An A* 200 f2.8 would be more expensive, but would work better on the *ist D you mentioned in a previous post.

I owned this lens for a while, and the optical results were in the same league as the excellent 200 4.0 I have.

I sold it as I didn't really need the speed. It is a quite heavy lens, but the handling was no problem for me.

I combo with a *ist D, a A or FA lens would be a better choice I think (or the FA 135 2.8 - which is about 200 in 35mm - and it focuses down to 70cm/28").

Well for the +istD I just brought my A 135 f2.8 to the service. But if I manage to get the camera I won't sell my LX... I want to keep my wet darkroom.
