<p>Another vote for using a camera with macro lens. A Canon 5D Mk II, 50/2.5 EF Macro with or without the Life Size Converter, extension tube and slide holder, shot in raw are all you need. Lightroom processing is sufficient for many slides. A nicely diffused light source will give the equivalent of wet mounting a slide on a scanner. In my experience the 20 Megapixels of a 5D II give plenty enough detail from most 35mm slides.</p>
