  1. <p>The Nikon F was by far the dominant professional SLR of the 1960s and early 1970s. Many owners of other camera brands were jealous of the Nikon F's success and tried to show they could take equally fine photos with their Canon, Minolta, Pentax, and Olympus SLRs. Of course, they could, but the Nikon F remained king of the hill for a long time. </p>
