  1. Hi. Two questions, please. 1) Should I be concerned about a used lens I might purchase, when that lens on my D850 only indicates F/3 in any mode, though the lens (Nikon 105mm Macro VR G) is a F/2.8? 2) When I tried to fine tune several Nikon 'G' f-mount lens, using the auto fine tune function on the D850, using exactly the steps published in a well-known guidebook, I always get a fail message referencing focus settings. Can the fact that I have back-button focusing set up interfere with the auto fine tune function? Neither the Nikon manual or the other guidebook address this. Thanks.
  2. Q.G. and William M., Thanks for your helpful inputs, which answers my question. Good idea on the DYI 'fix'; I can stick my finger in the hood for my 24-70 to turn a polarizer, but doubt that method would work on the HB-84. WC
  3. Hi. I am about to purchase a Nikon 500mm PF lens and will add a front filter for protection. Yes, I know of the differences of opinion on their use; not to dwell on that debate. Breakthrough Filters told me their X4 UV 95mm filter has a diameter of 98mm. I do not have a filter of that size to compare to see if that is a normal diameter. My question to you - has anyone used the BT 95mm X4 UV filter on the 500mm PF and noticed if it interferred with the lens hood? My other option is to use the Nikon NC filter. Thanks.
  4. Hi. Still learning my new D850; really anticipating using the focus shift function. The user manual states to use an AF-S or AF-P lens. Does this mean that I cannot use a non-Nikon AF macro lens for this camera feature? Have read some good reviews on alternative macro lenses; much less expensive, too. To test this problem, I tried using an old Nikon 50mm f/1.8D and sure enough, the camera would not allow the focus shift operation. Thanks for your advise. Bill
  5. <p>Thanks, friends, for your good advice. The NX2 is going back in the mail today.</p>
  6. <p>Hi. Newby to post processing. Just received a Capture NX2 (still unopened and returnable). Read at another forum site that NX2 may not support future Nikon DSLRs's - realizing that could have come from an uneducated source. Since next year I plan to upgrade to a D810, should I return the NX2 and go with the new Lightroom 6? I'm not trying to start another NX2 vs LR post, which has probably been exhausted. Thanks. Bill</p>
