  1. Marc, The fault may not be your focusing or your camera. I had one of those Samyang family (Rokinon) 500mm mirror lenses and it was just not sharp. Nothing I did could produce a sharp picture. I then got a Tamron 500mm mirror and voila, the pictures are sharp as a tack. I think the Samyang 500mm is just a poor lens.
  2. Beware the SDM motor and its staggering failure rate on the DA 16-50mm and the DA 50-135mm lenses.
  3. It may have lasted this long but I don't see it lasting much longer. Since the introduction recently of the new unusable interface I stopped using it and I would guess from the lack of familiar names it seems most others have too. All eye candy and not much else.
  4. "P.S. The new photo.net makes me not want to use this site." Welcome to the club, Andrew. Just to post this reply I had to go through 3 steps. Not to mention trying to find anything you used to find. Ugh..........
  5. Oh so that was your knee all busted up detailed on Flickr? What happened?
  6. You hit the nail on the head Harry. The new website design and functionality suck. Pure eye candy and practically useless. I have stopped visiting it. A shame because I really liked the old interface and group of responders.
  7. <p>Hin,<br> I think you will be very happy with the 16-85. It will even save you from having to make the DA 21 or DA 20-40 decision. Welcome back into the LBA Club.</p>
  8. <p>Hin, Thank you for that eloquent and thoughtful explication of what you are doing and how it relates to your family, love of photography, and gear. Little did I know when I sent my original comment that such a philosophical reply was forthcoming. You are a gift to this forum and we are lucky to have you. Keep it up.</p>
  9. <p>And BTW, I must find time to look at your other 24,858 Photos on Flickr. 24,858 Photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br> That's astounding. Must be a Flickr record or close to it !</p>
  10. <p>As usual you do a great job both from the gear aspect and the conceptual and even practical viewpoints.</p>
  11. <p>Matt,</p> <p>As for Cano's Castle. "The guy who built this out of scrap and junk is a Vietnam vet and credits Jesus and marijuana as his inspirations. :) "<br> <br> Looks like 90% marijuana and 10% Jesus to me.</p>
  12. <p>Let's try again...<br> From what I read, the Tamron 28-75mm wasn't so hot on a full frame camera. The APS-C cropped sensor hid the soft corners and edges but full frame shows the weakness. Here's a review on photozone.de that shows the failings on a full frame Canon 5D (not a Pentax K-1). Read especially page two and the Resolution evaluations....</p> <p>http://www.photozone.de/canon_eos_ff/418-tamron_2875_28_5d?start=1</p>

  14. <p>The Pentax shakes the sensor a few pixels to simulate an AA filter. Clever, those Pentaxians.</p>
