  1. Background: I shoot with the FujiX system, primarily landscape and travel. Usually RAW, then convert in Lightroom to Velvia, or B&W. Recently purchased an Epson P800. In the past, with my Canon printer, I juggled all sorts of different papers. In my quest to simplify my life, and improve my printing ability, I'd like to just use one paper. Ok, I'd use a second paper for B&W if needed. I do have assorted sample packs ordered and will print on those this weekend. I plan on Printing 2 images, using their ICC as 5x7 on 1 sheet, and a full size image on the other. Thoughts: Available in 8x10, up to 22x17 and 17" roll. Also, any suggestions on a print workshop would be appreciated (East Coast US, or online). My printing skills is the weakest link in my workflow. Using an Apple 27" iMac with a Spyder used regularly to color match the monitor to the printer. I realize this is a hotly personal topic. Hoping to get a clear picture of what people are using and why. Thanks for the help, Warren
  2. <p> Been to Iceland a few times and have a trip planned for November...Auroras are hit or miss...Last September we saw them everywhere...This September, nothing...This February we saw them only 1 night out of 10...Last November was a shut out...We'll see when this November brings...<br> Iceland is getting more and more visitors. I'd avoid the summer months and go in early fall. The charts list September-March as best Aurora time. You can hit the internet and <a href="http://en.vedur.is/">http://en.vedur.is/</a>, as mentioned above, for all sorts of weather information. Reykjavik has a great Aurora center, in the Marina side of town, that explains what you are seeing, and what the colors mean. <br> I'd avoid JFK. The lines are stupid long and the Airport's staff is, at best, untrained, and the politest I can say. US Immigration and Border control are super short staff and do the best that they can with a cheery disposition. Global Entry is a must! Apply now!<br> I always fly through Boston, so I can stop at Legal Seafood for Clam Chowder before hoping on a harmless 5 hour flight.<br> Conclusion to your original question: I'd go between the middle of September and middle of November. The weather will be alright, the sky will be dark, and you'll have some hours of daylight... </p>
  3. <p>I own the XT-1, and it's an amazing camera, as is the whole Fuji-X system...What attributes do you think the as yet un-announced, un-released XT-2 will have that will make it a "better" camera for you? The assumption is that it will mimic the gains of the X-Pro2...<br> The XT-1 has been dropping in price, and as others have mentioned, bodies come and go, lenses are forever...Not sure of your financial situation...you might consider a cost-benefit analysis...and remember that anything in the plus column for the XT-2 is a guess....<br> IF we assume the announcement in September, you'd have the camera before Xmas, 8 months or so from now...<br> As a platform, I have the XT-1 as well as the X-Pro2...each one has their place, depending upon what I'm shooting, what I feel like carrying and my mood that day...<br> I traded in my Nikon system to switch to the Fuji-X...and I've never looked back...My camera bag is lighter, the lenses are amazing and Fuji's commitment to firmware updates impresses me...I have the EX-2, a few years old and Fuji just upgraded the firmware to match, as much as possible, the newly released XE-2s...so they have not forgotten the users who purchased a body a few years back...<br> Suggestion: Go to a camera shop and handle the XT-1. If it feels good buy it...the XT-3 is just around the corner...</p>
  4. <p>Peace Street Camera in Raleigh, NC...Great people, tons of product...(no, I don't work for them)</p>

  6. Hello.... I am currently using a PC, with Lightroom 5.7. Photos are stored on an external hard drive...I'm switching to a Mac,also storing my photos on an external hard, using Lr online... My understanding is that with different file systems I cannot just plug the current hd into the new computer and have it magically work... What is the process to transfer the current system to the new one... Thanks... Warren
  7. <p>OP Here....Any thoughts on Restaurants?<br> Thanks...</p>
  8. <p>OP Here....<strong>Let's talk clothing</strong>....We're thinking matching outfits....<br> Bottom to Top...LLBean Boots ( Forgot what model, Just below the knee, the warmest rated pair they have ) and Waterproof Merrill hiking boots, Smart Wool Socks, Silk Underwear, Lined Hunting Jeans, Flannel in the interior, Patches of Suede on the thighs...<br> Silk Long Underwear tops, Not sure of the shirt, Artyrek Shell and their Storm proof Jacket on top...Beanie Hats and Freehenad Thinsulate Gloves...Baklavas...<br> Truthfully, We're only there for 4 days, and will be in the Southern part of the Country...Nearest I can tell, it wont be that cold, the issue is wind and rain....gotta stay dry...<br> Thoughts?</p> <p>Thanks again, <br> Warren</p>
  9. <p>OP Here....Thanks for all the great info and lots to think about...The real purpose of this trip is to spend time with my son, so, gear wise, I'll stick with the d7100, 17-50 and 70-300 (forgot I owned it), I'll pick up an 11-16 for wide angle and pack my tripod and polarizing filters...The boy will take the d5000 with the 18-140mm lens...<br> We put the money for the d750 aside for our trip to Japan for his next birthday...<br> We'll take the Mirrorless Panasonic as well...<br> I'll post pics...<br> Thanks, <br> Warren</p>
  10. I'd keep the dx and pick up a 12-24 & 24-120...or 24-105 sigma Warren
  11. OP here.... Like most trips, I'll print 2 or 3 to put in my restaurant...I'll also put together a book of some sort for my son for later in life... And the usual Facebook, Instagram stuff... Warren
  12. OP here... Thanks for the great info... More details: I have a CF Manfrotto Tripod with a Medium sized Ballhead... Lenses: 15mm f2.8, 30mm f1.4, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4 & a 100mm Macro lens... The 30mm is a dx lens... All the others are Fx... Zooms: 17-50 f2.8,16-85,18-140 & 50-150 f2.8...all dx... My son (14 yrs old, he picked this trip as his birthday present) has a d5000... We have polarized filters to fit all the lenses... My techniques are very good for photographing people & food... Landscape is not my forte... So, I've been reading up and practicing... I shoot Raw... I have a Canon printer and have been pleased with prints up to 13x19..I have sent larger files out to MPix and the results have been excellent... I don't tend to jump on the new equipment bandwagon...photography has been a life long interest... 40 years ago I got a Spotmatic... Just wondering if there would be, for me, an advantage to going full frame... The wife is okay with whatever I decide... (this time... )...
