  1. I have a diacord g. I had the lens shutter serviced by the guy who built them in the factory when he was young, cant remember his name. I havent used it much. Really havent, time and all. However i ran two rolls of tri x through it today. Developed in that cinestill stuff. Both rolls developed fine except, the first one was perfectly clear, only the factory numbers, etc was visible. Second roll developed clear, only factory information was visible. Except the LAST shot developed. oddly, i had a jam in the spool that kept the last frame from going into it. So the last frame was stuck between the tank and the reel. What is the normal method to ensure the shutter is working the same each time? I had the camera set to 3.5 and shutter to 1/5th second for each shot
  2. according to the website spiel, youve been an internet forum since 1993. and at this moment in time, and have 962,992 members, You should be happy if some member your little club house kicked out felt bored enough to come back to it. Im a new member and the hostility makes me feel like a white dude at a black panther rally. Ive seen photos of cats get more likes/follwers in 10 hours then youve managed to get in 27 years.
  3. I joined Oct 18. It made me upload 5 photos. When that was done, the system let me post and reply to posts and comments on the 18th. However, EVERYTHING had the little "not visible to other members" spiel to it. The MOMENT i made the post reply in THIS THREAD,, ALL of those prior comments DISSAPPEARED. For example my post question on the Lime Light Meter, was a repost of one i made on the 19th.
  4. Remember, the engineering team who came up with this idea may also have been the engineering design team that figured out Russian Roulette
  5. the posts/post replies i made until this one, this was the first one that didnt have "cant be seen by standard members", all DISSAPPEARED,,, and I also never had any record of making any posts/comments in the messages total column next to my icon at the top of the main forum page, OR in the content page in my user stats. Everything just went the way of the hanging chad
  6. As someone who understands business, the customer was supposed to pay the primary, who was then supposed to pay the OP to play second string. the only one with any obligation to pay the OP is the Primary. To think otherwise is to contradict all established laws and legal rulings. Also, the amount of people putting in bizarre things like empathy, supposed relationships between the customer and the primary shooter, all stupid and bizarre and not signs of someone who understands business
  7. I had to wait a very long time to get approval to post a message, i actualy was allowed to post in "cannot be seen by regular members until profile is approved" but sadly when i was approved.... everything dissapeared.
  8. im still working on finding that magazine in the states, no luck yet. not many can explain the way that some of the early shutters actually managed to stay closed when cocking.
  9. just get a light meter folks and worry about the scene
  10. there is no difference anymore between photo edited photography, and what ILM has done for movie magic. Look at the craptacular movie Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow. 90% of what you see in the movie was digital CGI models with live action shot on blue screen. Whats the difference between that and what people are doing with photoshop to manipulate their photos?
  11. why the endless roundabout battle of virture signalling here everyone? The op was contracted to be a second string shooter at a wedding. OP did the work, got the photos, never got paid. THe people who paid the primary photographer HAVE NO LEGAL OBLIGATION TO PAY the OP. The ONLY person with an obligation to pay, and a legal requirement to pay the OP is the primary photographer. IF the people want to pay for the photos the OP took THATS GOOD.... but who cares at this point? For so many people "in business", there has been so much horse manure drivel about empathy, the relationship between the primary photographer and the people who paid them to do the wedding shoot, yada yada yada..
  12. Well its easy really,, i have an interest in the early leaf shutters, the early disk shutters. I have seen in some diagrams for the old box cameras the shutter is just a spring pushing on a tiny flap of metal. I just dont know the calculations needed to figure out: the spring strength to get an exact shutter speed setting, the right size to make the shutter, calculating the focal length to use, Im cranky and have lots of time coming up. was thinking of using old cell phone lens at first, or one of those clip on cell phone lenses they sell at the store to get a bit of variable focal length.
  13. I know its "easier" to repair a camera, or to take an old camera and put in better components. But im curious on what sources show to build one from the ground up. Namely the shutter mechanism and how to calculate the focal length to use it with different film formats.
  14. Me, I need the meter. And the two other listed companies are interesting but Reveni Labs makes a tad to much mention of using sunny 16 in their mathematics to inspire me to purchase from them.
