1.
Hey guys,

I just got gifted a Yashica T5 and trying it out I wanted to turn it off, but the lens won't retract. As i read all over the internet most people have problems with the lens cover, but it worked perfectly before.
The camera was not dropped or anything like that and is in more than mint condition. Already tried new battery and new film (had a few old rolls).
The lens focuses as well as it does.
Thanks in advance.
-Tammo

 3.
Hi everyone :)
my name is Tammo Klassen and I'm a 24 year old aspiring photographer/videographer from Germany. I started out my photography career at the very young age of 12 with my dad's old film Minolta Dynax 500si joining him on his photography club's field trips. After not touching a camera for a couple of years after that I started looking into buying a DSLR at age 15 and I bought the Canon EOS 350D a perfect entry level camera which really sparked my interest in photography. The possibilities were endless all of the sudden with more than 36 shots and I fired away. I also worked as a sports photographer at the age of 15 for my high school's newspaper. To this day I still have and use the 350D as a backup camera as it still performs brilliantly but doesn't quite give me the output I need for my projects.
I'm currently in law school and doing photography as a side gig. For that I bought a new Canon 6D with some decent glass on it to be able to shoot whatever clients or friends could come up with, but I specialize on car, travel, nature photography and as of recently photojournalism. My kit has grown immensely over the years but I find myself resorting to only the essentials (6D, 17-40L, 70-200L, 50 1.4 and my dad's trusty old Canon AE-1 Program).
Speaking of which, just a few month ago I started using my dad's old Canon AE-1 Program as a fun camera which evolved into a full time backup camera that I'd use for those special moments only. I mainly shoot on black and white film (Ilford HP5) which in my opinion has the best look to it.
I also just recently started my own facebook page to share my work with friends and clients but I can't seem to be able to come around and upload any of my newer work as I find myself recycling all of my "old" photographs. (if anyone's interested, I do not currently make money through my photography so this is no advertising but some shameless self-promotion ;) -> https://www.facebook.com/603photography1).
I hope you guys liked this little introduction, looking forward to using this forum to gather some technical info and maybe some inspiration.
Also if you do want to stay in contact, all my personal info is on my facebook page :)
Thanks you guys :)

 4.
Yep checked it already, I do thankfully have a 35-70mm and as opposed to that the fixed 50mm doesn't close the blades at all, as long as I take it off the camera. On the 35-70mm the blades perform normally, so the close and open in bulb mode when I twist the aperture ring and they open and close, when I take the picture.

 5.
Yep think I found at least one problem. The shutter and mirror work like a charm but the aperture on the fixed 50 doesn't. I tried changing the aperture in bulb mode with the mirror locked up so I could look through it and it didn't close. On my 35-70 the aperture ring worked and the diaphragm closed and opened.
Could that actually be the problem that it's just the fixed 50mm that's causing the pictures to not be exposed at all?

 6.
Hey guys, new to this and my last post apparently didn't post so here I go again :D
I have only recently dusted off my dad's old Canon AE-1 Program cause I wanted to try and start using film a bit more than my digital workhorse (6D). I went through the first roll of film, but it wouldn't rewind (apparently it snapped of the end where it's taped to the canister). It was rolled back into the canister in the darkroom, so shouldn't be a light issue, but the pictures came out not having been exposed. Now I changed the battery and tried if it was maybe a shutter or curtain problem but both go up and down no problem and I can look through the lens entirely.
Do you guys have any suggestions? The film had an expiration date from 2001 so maybe that's the problem?
Any help is appreciated as I bought some rolls of new film and I don't want to waste 8$ rolls on a camera that's not working.
Thanks :)
