<p>I'm wondering whether to get a new Sony lens in Japan which does not come with an overseas warranty.<br> Does anyone have anecdotal experience of the quality control of Sony lenses compared to say Nikon and Canon? I wonder how great a risk I'd be taking to buy the new Sony lens in Japan with no warranty coverage in my own country.<br> Yes, I realise there is a Sony Tourist Warranty but the price of those brings it to about the same as back home so it defeats the purpose of getting the lens in Japan. The saving for the Japan-only-warranty is about three hundred dollars so it is quite a saving.</p>
