1. The Nikkor-W (wide) 2.8cm is my favorite lens. I purchased it as substitute for the Leica Summaron 28/5.6 that's much more expensive, and the Leica Elmarit 28 ASPH that is larger. Mine is late production, 717xxx and deletes the red "C" (coated, as is also the case with Brian's). I don't use a filter, and have never seen any documentation that it came with any hood, but I don't find a hood to be necessary. The only issue I've had is that you need to remember to keep you finger out of the field of view: the lens is so small and the field of view so great...! As an editorial aside and as a M9 user, for me a Nikkor-P 10.5cm and a Nikkor-W 2.8cm with ltm to M adapters are all I ever use anymore!
 2.
Another vote here for a Summaron 3.5 or 2.8, but it really depends on how much your willing to spend? At one extreme, a Summicron 35/2.0 "eight element" in LTM is rare and very collectible, at the other various Japanese products as mentioned above? Most of us will acknowledge the Leica product as holding value better than something from VC. I personally had a VC Ultron f1.7: found it too large, with a poor quality mount, and quite expensive as well!

 3.
The tripod is a period correct piece too; the case for both the camera and tripod seem in fine condition, the camera likely very little used. Be careful, handle it gently, store it in a cool dry area...and maybe even consider learning how to use it?

 4.
I've been through this with a rather nice Summarit 1.5 in LTM mount. I had it cleaned of fog, and it had only minimal cleaning marks on the front element. It's still a mediocre performer in my experience, especially wide open. If you appreciate fantastic build quality, and "atmospheric" effects however, consider getting an example without fungus and having some fun?

 5.
Very nice! I wonder if you took the same pictures with something as elegant as a Monochrome Leica and APO Summicron 50/2.0...if anyone could tell the difference?

 6.
I've had him do CLA on three lens: Telyt 200/4.0, Summarex, and Summarit 50/1.5. In all cases, fast turnaround, sensible price, very nice work! He's my "go-to" Leica repair service now.

 7.
Thank you for the responses. It's a strange question I know. I'm using a Telyt 200/4.0 on Viso I and so a tripod is really required, and the 45 degree finder is convenient, and the other II and III advantages you mention not particularly needed.

 8.
Is there any advantage to a Visoflex II or III with OUBIO, as compared with Visoflex I (or PLOOT, which I think is basically the same, but which I have never seen!)? I actually prefer the 45 degree finder on Viso I.

 9.
...thank you/interesting response! I still have the film cameras, nowadays only for display, but doubt I'll ever use them again. I use a base M9 which I think is a wonderful camera!...I also have a Summicron 50/2.0 V5, but the internet tells me the earlier Summicron DR is an interesting/historically important lens to use?...I really don't like to destroy things, but...

 10.
I have a very nice Summicron DR 50/2.0. I think I'll never use film (M3, M4, M6) again. Should I convert the DR to fit the digital M?

 11.
I'd buy a Monochrome and an APO Summicron!

 12.
Until a few months ago, M9 with Summicron 35 ASPH...then with the sensor problem, M6 with Summicron DR, and now again and with the sensor replaced, the M9/ASPH: I just love that M9!

 13.
Thanks to all of you for very astute advice...it's a "no brainer" decision!

 14.
I have sent my previously-though-of-as-wonderful M9 to Leica for rangefinder calibration. I've been quoted a cost of $500 to do this calibration, and been offered a sensor upgrade at no cost. Is an M9 worth spending $500 on, given the well publicized issue with sensor corrosion? I REALLY had liked this camera, but...

 15.
For M9 and for general photography, my basic kit is a Summicron 35 ASPH and Summicron 75 ASPH. I need to "go wider"! I think 21mm is maybe beyond my skill set, and 28 is too close to 35mm? What about 24mm in it's various incarnations: Elmarit, or Summicron? I prefer to stay with Leica lens.
