<p>I have two viewfinders, and each has a different battery placement. The older one has the battery where Mike Daly says it is: at back, beneath the eyepiece, in a compartment accessed by a round cover that unscrews. The newer viewfinder has the battery where Robert Anderson says it is: at the front, inside a compartment that slides to the right by using the little silver button.<br>
I just thought I'd post this update to a very old thread, in case anyone is confused about the various answers provided.</p>
