1. Hello, I want to buy a sigma 180 mm macro lens, but am seriously doubting between the new f2,8 with OS or the old f3,5 without OS. What makes me doubt are the resolution charts. The old one peaks just under 2400 and the new one above 2800. The old one is a third of the price of the new one. Can you see this differense in resolution in the real world? Thanks, Rob
  2. You might be right. Actually, i do use a nexus 7 as an external monitor when i do underwater photography, but these screens are so horribly shiny and behave bad under daylight.
  3. Many thanks for your input! Nobody uses video glasses for his/her photography?
  4. All of you, thanks for your input. Nobody using virtual reality or augmented reality glasses for photography??
  5. Andrew, Oh yes, there is plenty of stuff out there. See for example the zeiss: http://www.zeiss.com/cinemizer- oled/en_de/applications/2d--and-3d-viewfinder.html I just wondered if anybody is using such a thing and how are the experiences with it. And ofcourse i would like to know which i could best buy for my purposes. I have the d5100 and I am using the flip out display a lot, but I have other camera's without this great facility. Also, with those video glasses, you have a (much) larger image and no problems with ambient light obscuring the image. At least, that is what I read on the net. So those using a thing like this, please react. Thanks, Rob

    Video glasse

Hello, I do a lot of photography on the forest floor. Next to being in very uncomfortable positions, I pick up to many tics. That's why i want to start using video glasses that can see what the lens sees. Is there anybody here with experience in using such set up? Rob
  7. Update: After not using the d5100 for several month, it is back to full functionality. If anybody ever drops the camera in the water, just be patient!
  8.
Hello,
I need a new long macro lens. I am doubting between the Nikkor 200 mm and the Sigma 180 mm f2,8. I do a lot of backlit shots, so the bokeh is important. I read that the sigma has rounded blades. Will those give me rounded reflections of, for example, waterdrops in the background, also at f11 or f16?

Any other suggestion for a long macro lens with rounded blades?

Thanks,
Rob

  9.
I found out that the camera WILL respond to a remote cord when not in LV mode!
This solves the problem.

  10.
Hi,
When connecting a DSLR to a tablet (through usb) when tethering, the camera will not respond to a regular remote wire anymore. Is there a way to get around this??
Thanks,
Rob

  11. Hello, I am building a custom made under water housing for my dslr's. Unfortunately, my D5100 was swimming yesterday. Only the back of the body was under water. My tablet could still see the SD card. I have tried to dry it with ventilator and fohn, but it shows as dead as dead can be. Yesterday I still heared a soft noise inside the camera when switching on. Today nothing. Is there anything I could try to do, beside bringing it to the service or throw it away??? Rob
