1.
Lefty loosey righty tighty... Counter clockwise with a nickel (as I remember). You could grab the coin with a pair of pliers if you need to. The battery may be corroded.

 2.
Turn off the IR dust and scratch remover if you have it on. It sometimes sees the opaque metallic silver in B&W film grain as dust and 'removes' it. This also applies to Kodachrome transparencies.
Velvia is dye-based negative film and IR transparent, so the dust remover only removes dust and scratches, not image information from those types of films.

 3.
Your NEF's are still available. If you copy a NEF off of the DVD you can edit it like any other NEF file. Consider the DVD to be a backup medium that you put away until you need to copy a file back to your hard drive.

 4.
Right eye- so the film advance lever is clear of my face.

 5.
Try flipping up the little arm on the right side of the feed tray... That helped me...

 6.
One of the hazards of some pitching styles. You can see that he does have his glove up in case of a line drive, but I've seen some ML pitchers that almost fall off the mound when they pitch.

 7.
If (in Photoshop) you go to Image>Image_Size, change the resolution to whatever you want, and then change the percentage back to 100% then you'll see that the file size hasn't changed, but the print resolution will be whatever you've set it to be.
Of course this will change if you select 'fit to page' or something else that will cause the printer to change the size of the image.

 8. I'll be driving from OKC to Taos to Boulder over the next several days and wanted to ask about any must-sees, events, or routes that might be especially interesting photographically. I'm pretty familiar with the Boulder area but I've never travelled west from OKC before, and I've never been to Taos or southern Colorado. Any guidance, thoughts or observations would be appreciated...
 9.
Certainly try the USB cable. And check to see if the images have been inadvertently saved to the second card (the one you're not looking at).
