1.
I have an entry level 4x5 made by the Intrepid Camera Company in England. I purchased a Nikon 150mm sense for it. When I try to focus, the image is never sharp on the ground glass. Subjects that appear to be in focus are very grainy on the ground glass. The image is also not sharp edge to edge and the prints are always mostly out of focus. Would you expect the issues is with the ground glass or the lense?
Thanks for you input.

 2.
I tried to post this question already but did not see it in the forum so I am posting it again. I am just learning LF camera techniques. I have a question about focusing a structure when you have 2 different receding planes. I am trying to photograph an old barn from a quartering to angle from the front to include the front of the barn and the left side. Neither of the surfaces is parallel to the camera. The front is slightly receding to the right and the left side is receding away from the camera at a more severe angle. I am having problems getting everything in focus. I don't have a scanned image to post; I only have the negative. Did not want to waste money on getting it scanned. I have several questions. Where should the initial focus be done? At the front corner; in the middle of the front? Should the focus be done initially at the base of the barn or halfway up the structure? Will it require both front tilt and swing to get everything in focus? Where would you start with focusing and what adjustments would you expect to be required? Thanks for you input and comments.

 3.
I am new to LF and am having problems with focusing when I try to shoot an old barn. I am shooting at a quartering to angle to include both the front of the barn and the left side. I can't seem to get everything in focus. I have two receding planes. One on the front of the barn which is slight and one on the left side of the barn which is more severe. If I focus at the base of the barn, the top is out of focus and I have to use tilt. Do I use a combination of tilt and swing to bring everything in focus and where is the best place to place initial focus? The front corner; the middle of the front and do I focus at the base or mid way up the barn? Where would you begin with focus and what adjustments would you expect to make? I am shooting a Nikkor W 150 lense. Thanks for your comments.

 4.
When initially focusing a large format camera do you use the widest aperture available to give the brightest image on the ground glass or the aperture used for the shot? Even using front standard tilt, I cannot get the dof in focus that I want at f5.6 but when I stop down to f 16 or 22 the dof improves a lot. I was under the impression that with LF cameras and using front tilt that it is possible to get pretty much everything in focus from near field to infinitely even at wide apertures. What am I missing?
