1. Hi all, I've been shooting with the my contax g1 with the 45mm lens. My last two rolls have been completely out of focus and I have no idea why.. this is the first time it's ever happened to me. And I'm not talking about just slight focusing inaccuracies but the entire picture is blurry, nothing is in focus. I always shoot in autofocus mode. Is there anyway for me to check whether it's a problem with the back or with the lens? I only have 1 back so unforuantly i can't do a test with another Thanks
 2. Hi all, I shoot primarily medium format and my lab usually will develop and scan my film for me. I am looking for a flat bed scanner primarily to scan PRINTS (Not film)... Does anyone have any top picks for this? I am considering the Epson v600 or a used Epson 10000 XL (a bit out of my budget and tad too large) Any other contenders out there I should look at? Of course the ability to scan film would be a bonus but not a requisite in this case.
 3. Hi Jochen and Ed, thanks for your feedback! I just did another test with and without flash. Without flash there is almost zero vignetting and playing around with the flash unit setting it at the widest setting 28mm, I experienced no vignetting either even at the widest end of the zoom! So problem solved.... I didn't think it would make a difference seeing how small the flash unit is but wow what difference it makes
 4. Hi all, I've recently had some problems with a 45-85mm FA lens that I just purchased off of ebay to be used with my Pentax 645n. I was doing a test with Portra 400, my pentax body, this new lens as well as my contax tla 200 flash unit (the little one). I was doing a few tests on AE metering mode, at various focal lengths (45mm, 65mm, 85 mm etc.), at -1, 0, +1 exposure stop settings to see how the new lens would react with the flash. The results kind of have me freaked out, as when I shoot with the wide end 45 or 55 mm there is extreme vignetting as you will see: 45mm http://i.imgur.com/vHTkKWc.png 65 mm minor vignetting http://imgur.com/2sGLuh9.png 55 mm, +1 http://i.imgur.com/vR6zsNK.png 45 mm http://i.imgur.com/wBa00SF.png My question is: what is causing this vignetting? Granted I have no tested this lens with just ambient light no flash. Another question for those familiar with metering with the Pentax 645n, when I place the flash on top of the camera, does it meter taking into consideration there is a flash unit or does it meter as normal i.e. nothing on top of the flash? Of course I am using the contax TLA 200 in manual mode as there is not TTL communication between the Pentax and the contax. however, do the dials on top of the contax flash unit have any impact on the flash itself? I.e. the 45 mm, 90 mm etc. settings? Or it has no functionality? Any help would be great!!
 5. Thanks for all your input! Yes I was always talking about film, I've also been playing around with printing and scanning As in making prints, either c-prints or inkjet, and then scanning them again I feel like that, too, changes the whole feeling of the picture
 6.
Another example in the photography of Tina Barney (especially in this series): WARNING there is nudity! http://www.tinabarney.com/#/nudes/
If I'm not mistaken it should be medium format but there is something in the rendering of the skin that makes it look like it's from a polaroid... as the figures are sharp but details are not harsh... Don't know if I'm being too vague here

 7.
Thanks Gareth!! I'm going to give it a try... fingers crossed!

 8.
Hi all,
I have a Mamiya RZ 67 with SEKOR 90 mm and SEKOR 65 mm, both of which I use with my RZ67 645 back.
Recently, I have been experiencing this problem while using my 65 mm lens where I will press the shutter, but I will not hear the very quiet *click* sound indicating the shutter has gone off. I will then not be able to advance the film until I move the 'N' to 'T' and back to 'N' again at which point I will hear the quiet *click*... at which point the shutter goes off (very late) and then I am able to advance the film.

The weird thing is that it doesn't get "stuck" like this consistently... maybe every 2 frames this happens? And I do not recall this ever happening using my 90 mm lens with the body... which makes me almost sure its a lens problem and not a body problem.
Any thoughts? Solutions? This is driving me nuts!

Don't know if it's even worth taking in the 65mm for a servicing when I am seeing them on eBay for around 150 euros (I live in France where I think servicing will cost me around 100 or more euros)!

Thanks all!

 9. Though I have been doing some looking myself and I suspect most of you are right is saying it's probably a Pentax 645n...
 10. Ok thanks everyone! I was actually hoping to identify the particular camera which left this particular imprint not just any camera who can do this. Don't know if this is possible ...
 11.

Hi all,
Just a quick question: does anyone know which camera produced an image like this? To leave the digital imprint on the 120 film....
The image is cropped from scan of film:
http://imgur.com/a/mZ5kA
Any help would be appreciated!

 13.
Hi everyone,
It would be great if you could help me out with this. I'm wondering how this photographer got this particular sort of effect with the images: this kind of soft finish with the image still in focus but without a "hazy" sort of look you would get with something like a Pro-mist filter...

Personally it looks like it was taken with a digital camera... or does it look like medium or large format film to you?

I am not asking about the actual colour of the image as it is obvious that there was a colour filter involved during or after the shoot but I am more curious about the finish of the image... how it is able to be soft but preserve details at the same time..

Any leads would be much appreciated!

Mod: Per the photo.net Terms of Use, do not post photos that you did not take. 15.
Hi everyone,
I mostly do fine art, portrait, and fashion work, mostly shooting in film. I am a student but also starting to work professionally looking for some advice re: equipment.

Basically I am looking for a continuous light source (preferably warm-leaning in colour): tungsten, LED, etc. doesn't really matter but something that allows me to concentrated light or somewhat diffuse light much like I can achieve with a studio strobe (snoot + other attachments). Basically I've been working with these studio strobes but in the "continuous light" setting (i.e. preview mode) to do what I want but I don't want to invest that much money into strobes if I'm not going to use the flash on them.
So basically, do you guys have anything in mind that will allow me to do the above and won't cost a fortune?

Would be nice if they weren't too bulky either....

Thanks a lot in advance,

Cheers
