  1. Hi everyone This is my first post - I've just registered though I've been a photo.net reader for a while. I'm looking for recommendations for a good basic text on website development. My own website was created by a professional developer for free (he was under an obligation to me: and is now my son-in-law :-) ), but now that it's up, running and mostly bug-free, I don't feel I can call on his help any more. You can see it here: www.paulashleyphotography.co.uk All C&C is welcome. I would like to try further development of the site, but beyond that I'm interested in creating other sites. I consider myself very IT literate, and have long experience of coding for science and engineering, and in the early days of the internet I wrote my own website in HTML. But I have little or no knowledge of how current sites are put together, of CSS, PHP, plug-ins etc - though I'm happy to learn. I'm assuming I would use Wordpress mostly, and I'd prefer to create my own themes than buy them. I'm looking for a book that covers the basics. For specific problems and processes I am happy to search through Lynda and YouTube, but I'd rather have a comprehensive text I can flick through back and forth to start off. Any recommendations? Paul
