    Beech Forest

Compositionally, this is very unique and perfectly rendered from your innovative original. I love what you have done with the light. I will not forget it and definitely, if I get lucky enough to land a photo worthy of the technique, will use it myself. Many thanks for sharing your skill!

So, this is a pretty magical photograph. Silent, stoic, and altogether still. I must say I strongly prefer it to the color version. This is one of those photographs that if I had stumbled upon it, I would have dropped everything to ensure I captured it. I can only speculate - only wish, really - that I would have done as good a job as this. Congrats to you and thanks for sharing!

    Fearless

I love this - congrats on it! I get the feeling that with the right B&W conversion - one that I think would be rather involved, proceeding color by color - this could be even more riveting. In any case I appreciate very much you posting this!

    wintertime love

I have never seen your work before, sir, and honestly I have no idea what world I am in now with this new Photo.net interface. So far I hate it. But I just love love LOVE this image. I really wish it were mine, and thanks to you, something like it someday will be. It is so beautiful and ethereal and wistful and dreamy - so much like what I aim for when I shoot scenes like this! Thank you so much for posting it. My one critique would be that I wish there weren't snow tracks into the forest bisecting the middle foreground. I am shameless, and I myself would fix that in Photoshop. I don't know your sensibilities, but whatever they are I respect them. And I admire this work regardless of any of that. It is excellent.
  5. As with any trip to Jamaica (far away from all this cold!) - that Red Stripe makes all the difference. It turns a compelling textural composition into a stunning nature scene. Great photograph, Tim! The cloud movement is a terrific touch.
  6. General question here that I didn't find elsewhere on a search of this forum. The EOS 5DS and 5DSR each offer 50MP sensors, with the difference being that the R version introduces a separate filter to cancel the effects of the S version's low pass filter, for the ultimate in detail capture. Mine is a basic question: doesn't ADDING one filter to cancel the effects of another, deteriorate image quality? Placing MORE media between the original light and the image capturing sensor seems like putting another filter on the front of the lens - you wouldn't do it unless your vision required it (like a ND filter or polarizer, etc). I assume Canon chose this route for the 5DSR for mass manufacturing reasons. But my question is, does this inevitably degrade image quality? In much the way that it is supposed to enhance it? If it isn't obvious, my understanding of the low pass filter is minimal. But shouldn't basic physics prevail? Since Canon itself thinks no, I am looking for a plain English explanation to educate me. Thanks for any feedback.

    Grain

Well, I never thought I would be writing these words, but this is the best picture of wheat I've ever seen. Is it wheat? Or grass? Or what? This photo is excellent no matter what.
  8. Wow, Tim! Usually I give almost all credit for architectural or sculptural photography, to the original artist. But here I think you have probably transcended that original vision. I almost never give that credit, and it's been tough not to in your case, considering your whole huge body of work. But this one is superior and I think you have accomplished more than the original genius even imagined. Awesome!!

    After the Wedding

To me it feels like a bit much on top, not enough left to right. But so what. This is an absolutely unique and stunning portrait. They say a photo is worth a thousand words, but I am getting at least ten thousand from this! Thanks so much!

    Touch...

I'm fairly shocked this was even possible. Even in post, if that's how you did it. So excellent! Thanks for posting it

    Northern lights (20)

Never seen the Aurora at dusk like this. It's an excellent composition and beautiful capture. What I love most is the delicate form that resembles a graceful diver, descending purposely and perfectly into the twilight or the land or the sea. Kudos and congrats on this, it goes into my favorites!
  12. Oh woowww! So beautiful!! So gorgeous to view here, thank you for sharing it!

    " Pyrenees "

Just another classic! Well done as always.
  14. It's rare to see a color photo where the primary hues are orange and white! It really drew my eye. The warm/cold dichotomy is unique and pleasing to me.

    Winter giant

I love the color and the comp. Because we are spoiled here on PN, I do wish for the tree at left to be snow-draped. Lighting and timing are excellent and I am just glad I saw this shot. Congrats!
