1. I tried the Nikon 24-70 and the Tamron 15-30. I got the Tamron. Now lifting weights.
2. Since this is a huge investment, I have read comparisons and have come down to 2 I think. The Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 or the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 (that does not have VR). And then Peter adds another one. I have not researched it yet. But opinions on the Tamron, which I am leaning towards because of the lens stabilization and I can go wider. I am trying the Nikon 24-70. With the wider lens I remember it is harder to keep unwanted clutter out of the shots, but great for when you want it all. Thank you
3. Colin Carron, a beautiful shot. I know in the past I used the Tamron a lot in the churches and outside. But I used the zoom to get shots far away when I could not get close. There was only a 1 yr warranty on the 28-300, my mistake. For 240 they will fix it, just not sure if it is worth it, not knowing if it will work. I am not familiar with these others. Going to try to go look this Saturday. I know what I want, just do not know which lens. I love the church photo. For a good shot with the wide angle, what is the distance?
4. I am going to Paris, Normandy, and Seville in a few weeks. I would like to take my 800e. I am with a group, so sometimes I have to grab the shot fast. I will be doing lots of night shots, hence the 800e over my 7100. I would like to take a fast wide angle for inside the churches, a zoom, and a prime that will fit in my pockets. I bought the 28-300 last yr. for this trip, but I am trading it in because it will not focus on either camera regardless of settings. In the past I used a 7000 with a 70-300 dx and a Tamron 10-24 3:5-4:5. I know I will need fast lens that are not heavy. Thanks
5.
I thought I would give an update. I used Photorec and recovered everything except for 2 folders. It recovered photos I did not realize were on this computer. I had hard copies of everything except these 2 folders. They are from 2011 and 2012. I have recovered from 2003-2015. So I am going to try another program and let you know. Hope this helps someone else.

6. I will try these things first thing in the morning. It has not been a tech summer. The external drive I was backing things onto is showing an error now. Good thing I am patient. Thank you for the quick responses. This all happened at the first of June.
7. I am trying to recover my photos from my Windows 7 PC laptop. I have used Recuva and Remo software. All have been recovered except for those shot in Nef. I was copying from one external to another for backup when the original external power button stopped working. Looking at other sites and reading I have found most software does not recover Nef photos. Any suggestions? Thank you, Pamela
8. I see what everyone is talking about. With the Tamron on my 7000, it is right there. And with the FX lens, wow the difference is awesome. I like the resolution and the placement of the buttons better on the 800E, you cannot have it all, unless you could design your own. My husband did get me the Nikon 800E and the tamron for Christmas. He forgot me all of last year. I have 30 days to take the camera back. I am keeping the lens. I do have the option now of even changing to Canon, since I need FX lenses for the less noise. I even thought of that and selling my 7000, because I do want the FX lense regardless in Canon or Nikon. I noticed most birders use Canon. I see where crop is better. My question is wanting to do a large print of a bird, would I not need a full frame? The photo above was the first time I had used a mono pod. Thanks to all.
9.
A friend just got the Tamron 150-600 and a used Nikon 800E. I do see the difference. She let me borrow it for some eagle shots. A DX does better, but the resolution is better on the FX.
