Wow thanks for the advice Bill. I had no idea. I feel for al the people that bought new strobes only to have them malfunction almost immediately due to poor electrical contact issues. My strobes cost the original owner over $2000.00 I can't imagine spending that much only to have the lights misfire. ;) These Forums are invaluable! Now if I can only get the admins to approve my photo.net profile.

I am buying the FL soon. That being said there is no better lens for the night than the 80-200 2.8 AF D the aperture blades produce stars points better than any lens I have ever seen. Checkout the panoramas of NYC on my site p2images. I will never sell it. Reports from friends say the new FL is better than the 200mm 1:2.0 and doesn’t focus breath like it’s predecessors.

Replying to my own post. I swapped out the Bulb from another unit and it fixed the problem. I believe the small tabs weren't making contact at the front of the bulb.

Hey everyone! Can anyone give me the dimensions in inches (width and length) of the Nikon 500mm F/4 FL VR Lens Cap? I just purchased a used 500mm f/4 AF-S II Non-VR and need a cloth cap for it and wonder if the latest velcro style cap with fit on it. The old one has been discontinued.
