  1. Yes I understand and will try it. Manfrotto R501,47 Rubber Pads for 501PL Quick-Release R501,47
  2. Do you think neoprene might be more compressible than the plate's rubber? The manfrotto material seems quite dense. I'm definitely open to trying neoprene.
  3. Hi. Does anyone know what sort of rubber backing is on their plates (like the 200PL quick release plate)? It is about 2mm thick. Is there a roughly equivalent product (maybe adhesive backed) that could be attached to metal to give a strong non-slip surface?
  4. Okay thanks. I'll try cleaning it. There was a bottle of ethyl acetate in the closet that had ended up evaporating over a year. Having worked in a chem lab, I saw acid vapors quickly damage electrical components. However, there is no damage to the EX 1.4 II, so hopefully this is just an oddity that won't impact other parts. I appreciate the input!
  5. Just a wooden shelf in an office. The humidity is normal. Is it not degradation of the rubber by some oxidation?
  6. Just noticed an older Canon EF 1.4x II does not have the film on the same part.
  7. Has anyone else seen this? It looks like very premature oxidation of the rubber ring. The white has also recently appeared on the outside of old EF 25mm extension tubes hard black cases. I am really afraid there is some nasty chemical vapor in the air. There is lots of expensive equipment in this room. Any ideas?
  8. <p>Thanks David. That certainly seems right. Thanks for your thoughts!</p>
  9. <p>Hello. We've been shooting wildlife vids at 1080 60fps with a Canon XA20, and want to add a 2nd camera. The 2nd camera would be for displaying some dissecting microscope footage and for head talking shots.</p> <p>The other camera we have is a T5i, which shoots at 1080 30fps. I"m not really sure what to expect and if conversion software would be worth the trouble.</p> <p>I'm not expecting the 30fps video to look any better. Just wondering of this sort of conversion would worsen the look of the 30fps footage.</p> <p>While a subject is talking, B footage of the location would be interspersed. Would scene transitions between converted 30fps to native 60fps XA20 footage look okay?</p>
  10. <p>DPP does not show coordinates. GPS field in DPP EXIF field remains blank. For the 6D, Map Utility is only for viewing shot locations and info on a map. Coordinates are embedded in images either by the Camera or by EOS Utility (not sure which) EU3 offers to import/delete the log files. iNat recognizes embedded coordinates. :-))) How great is the 6D! Marvelous upgrade from original 5D.</p>
  11. <p>Thanks for helping. Yes it was set up correctly. The camera info window shows the coordinates.</p> <p>Shouldn't DPP 4 show the coordinates?</p> <p>I use MediaPro and am hoping to get the coordinates to iNaturalist. </p>
  12. <p>Hello. The 6D is saving GPS data, but how does one use it?</p> <p>Should DPP 4 display actual data in the EXIF? The thumbnails show the GPS mark but EXIF is blank at "GPS Data."</p> <p>I was really hoping to use that data for iNaturalist, but how? Phase One MediaPro also does not seem to display the data either.</p>
  13. <p>Do you mean just rub the pencil point on the threads?</p>
  14. <p>Never really worried about this before, but basic cleaning brought the threads back to near new performance. Just alternated a bunch of times between lens brush, microfiber cloth and lens cleaning solution. Guess this was kind of common sense. Most likely will leave the Armor All for the kayak.</p>
