  1. I live in Singapore. None of the servicemen here could fix it. I read about him being a reliable ebay seller and serviceman. Hence I sent it over. And like I said, it turned out fin the first time. Until he vanished mysteriously and stopped replying. He is still active on eBay though.
  2. Guys need your help on this. A bit of background info first. I sent my pentacon six for repair due to the shutter speeds firing erratically or the shutter staying open indefinitely even though it wasn't set to bulb mode and locked. The person I sent it to was this person in Slovakia by the name of Gejza who goes by the ebay moniker cupog. At least thats how I first got in touch with him, through eBay. The camera came back serviced the first time and worked fine for two months. Then the problem resurfaced. I sent the camera once again to him (Somewhere in September last year) and I have not heard from him since. His last message was the confirmation that the camera had arrived at his place. He hasn't replied my emails or given me any updates since. Its been over a year and I am a bit frustrated as I spend almost $50 shipping that $300 camera to him and he seems to completely ignore my messages. Has anybody had a similar experience with this person or does anybody know what I can do? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for hearing me out. Thanks, Nanda
  3. Thanks for the reply man. I think your second idea about not bringing in cameras into warmth and leaving it out in the cold might actually work. Provided it survives the first outdoor venture in the sub 0 weather. Thanks again!
  4. Thanks for the reply Peter! So basically I need to delubricate the camera completely, including the lenses. Sounds like a expensive and complicated venture.
  5. Hi all, I have an Arax 88cm with MLU which, started its life as a Kiev 88CM before a serviceman in the Ukraine modified it to become the Arax. My question concerns the operation of the camera in extreme cold conditions. Now the easy assumption is that the camera is fully mechanical so it should work in cold conditions. But having had an RB67 (mechanical monster from Mamiya) die on me in the Indian Himalayas in -20 deg C I’m exercising some caution. The lubricant on the leaf shutter of the Mamiya froze I think Im expecting to work in conditions of -30 to -40 degrees C and I’d like to check if anyone has used the Arax/Kiev 88 cm at this range of temperatures. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Nanda
