2. Great info, many Thanks. And I'm from Canada. So Mich to think about, I've done a few weddings and had a small contract that I did up. And yes I had a nightmare of a client that kept changing the dates and even postponed to the next year. I was worried if they would cancel completely but they got married and everything went well. This why I was asking that question. Thanks
 3. Great advice, thank you. I do agree if there is a death in the family to give back the payments. But what I'm wondering is What if they just decide to No longer stay together. Besides the first payment, do you give the other 2 payments back? Thanks
 4.
Hi,
Just wondering what most of you do when it comes to contracts and payments ...cancellations.
Do you do 3 payments?
Down payment to hold the date .....10%, 20% , 50% percent of the package?
Is the last payment before or after the wedding?
Now the big question is.....if the clients cancels at any time before the wedding , do you give back any payments that were paid?
Or what if they have the last payment to pay up and they cancel the wedding( with No re scheduling, its DONE).......do you still ask for the final payment to be paid up, do to loss of a potential booking?

Second Shooter
Do you allow the second shooter to edit the photos or do you as the main photographer take the cards at the end of the day?

 5.
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread....i have no idea where to ask this question.

I I have just been approached by a friend that does Real Estate and is needing a photographer.
Has anyone done this and do you have any input that would help . She knows I don't have any experience in this field and is wanting me to try it out.
I 'm willing to try it out and i love a new challenge. Just wondering if anyone has any tips :) that is willing to share.
Please

 6.
How is this flash?
I have the Canon 430 EX II and I'm not a big fan of flashes as i like natural light but im slowly having to used them for some family shoots that are indoors with poor lightening and recently a church wedding, that i was allowed to use only when they wedding party was coming in to the church. UGH

Anyhow everything needs a back up and ive had mine now for a few years and on a family shoot the other day mine made a sound that sounds like something was shorting out. So in the shop it goes and now needing a back up.
Should i just get another one of the same or is this a good choice .I've looked it up on You Tube with Gary Fong, lol and WOW there is a lot to this flash compared to mine.

 8.
My cousins wedding
Sorry for the file, what size do i need to re size my photos?

Moderator Note: 700 pixels maximum - either vertical or horizontal. I have resized to for you.

 9.
Craig, I have many many shots of the grooms mother, its the only one i have of her crying. I do have others of her during the ceremony, formals , dancing, etc... Just wish this ONE would have been clearer.

 10.
Thanks, and William it was from camera movement. Downloading as i type. Thanks Ill give it a try and let you know how it turns out.

 11.
HI I just recently shot a wedding and it was my first time inside of a church, with many rules. UGH :(
Anyway, with the rules that was given to me and being in a position that i had to run from side to side didn't doing the long run around the backside of the church didn't give me time to get composed properly. I managed to capture only 1 photo of the grooms mother wiping tears away but its on the blurry side.

My question is..... would you still give it to the clients? I normally throw those out but being the only shot.
I'm struggling to what i should do.

 12. Thank you so much for all your comments. I still haven't decided what to do yet.
 13.
Hi,
I have been approached by someone who is wanting to get into wedding photography.
She's asked me if she can be a shadow photographer at an event or wedding that Ill be doing so she can prepare herself a little better with her first wedding and if she can take photos as well to practice.

I asked her what she struggles with and she replied...Getting everyone together and getting them to do the right poses.

I don't have a problem with this except for the part of her taking her own photos. I would not want her to post anything or get in my way.
I was thinking more of having her carry things and just watch how I get everyone together and how I pose them.

Has anyone done this before and is it a good or bad idea? I totally understand where shes coming from and everyone needs to start somewhere.

 14.
Hi , i just ran into this same problem( with error decoding failed and some look really bad) but I did a test and have noticed something when i transfer my RAW files over to my external drive, they say its a CR2 file but now i did a test and copied and pasted hole new but same set ( because i still had them on my card, thank god) onto my computer and there the files don't say CR2 and the same files that gave me trouble...open fine :)
So I'm thinking something is wrong with my external drive, could that be possible?
