  1. I purchased an EM-1 last year, after a few years of being away from photography. What attracted me to the m4/3 platform was the size and features like wireless connectivity for exposure, image transfer and GPS coordinates logging. However, after spending almost a year shooting with it, I always found myself more frustrated with the menu system, changing settings that take 2 or 3 steps versus one on the Nikon and poor battery life. My biggest frustration is the extremely slow auto focusing. Sometimes even shooting still subjects it took multiple tries for the camera to lock on. I took the camera on a shore birding trip and was frustrated all day. Luckily, I had my trusty D300 with me and was able to capture many keepers. I decided to buy an D810, after careful consideration between a D7100 and D750. Granted, the menu layout is basically the same for all Nikons, so even after a few a years of being away from using Nikons, I had it configured in short order. The ease of use and comfort level with Nikon versus a year with the EM-1 was night and day. Yes, I used the EM-1 for almost a year versus 7+ with the Nikons. But if after a year your still frustrated, it's time to move on. The EM-1 will be up for sale soon.
