1.
I subscribe to Adobe's photography package that comes with Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC. There is a bit of a learning curve initially, but I really like LR. I have full control over my workflow.

 2.
Recently, I've had RAW files become corrupt at some point in my workflow (between capture and import). The files open normally in Lightroom CC's development module, but then random files become corrupt (see image attached). The weird thing is sometimes the files seem to correct themselves on their own. I also get messages saying "this file appears damaged" for some files in LR or when I open them in Camera RAW. This happens with NEF and DNG RAWs. I contacted Adobe thinking it was something to do with LR initially, but they concluded that there was nothing wrong with the software. We also concluded that it was the file itself that was likely damaged since it appeared damaged when I opened it up in Photoshop CC or Preview on my Mac. The file also appears damaged when I open it on my other computer. The strange thing is I opened a damaged file in PS/Camera RAW and the image appeared damaged initially, but switched back to looking normal after two seconds. Weird. Does anyone have similar experience and if so, what was the cause and solution? or does anyone have any insight into this problem? I'm shooting with a Nikon D600. I also don't think it has to do with the cards. I will add that I upgraded to OS El Capitan on my main computer and his seemed to start happening shortly afterwards. I am running the latest Adobe CC apps. Thanks!

 3.
Since switching to LR CC, I have found that the app crashes alot. This never happened when I used LR5. Also, some files seem to get corrupted. I get occasional images that say "This image appears damaged" or digital damage to files in the form of color streaks. I also had issues with my catalog being corrupted and had to repair that recently. I just upgraded to latest version of LR CC last night. We'll see if that helps. Thoughts?

 4.
I use Lightroom CC for our personal and family photos, but my wife uses the Apple Photos app on her iPad and iPhone to capture pictures of our baby daughter. I figured it would be easy to import the images from her iPad/iPhone into LR, but only the full res images that are saved on her devices will import. The rest of the images are optimized for iCloud and aren't detected by LR. Seems the solution would be to download all the images to full res on her device, but she doesn't have enough storage to do so. So now it seems half her images are in the cloud and I can't figure out a way to get them into LR. Maybe I'm missing something here? Anyone have any thoughts, suggestions? Thanks!

 5.
Hi everyone.
Input needed: I use Lightroom CC. I'd like to keep my personal/family images separate from my professional work images. Is there any good reason to NOT have two separate catalogs? I already key word and use collections, etc, but I'd like to keep things separate. Thoughts?

 6.
Thanks. Perhaps I should have posted in the beginner section. It is a casual shoot, so you're right John, I'll experiment.

 7.
Hey everyone. I'm relatively new to using off-camera flash. I have a casual shoot coming up with a friend of mine who is a model. She has an edgier look to her, so I've chosen an urban location for the shoot. There is a building with graffiti on a concrete wall I'd like to use as a background. I have two speedlights, a 45" umbrella with black/silver/white, and a 24" soft box. I would like to light the background with one speedlight and light my model with the other speedlight. My question is should I use the umbrella as the key to light both the model and the background from the front and use the softbox for side fill? Or, should I use the umbrella to light the background only, and use the softbox from the front to light the model. Ultimately, I want to create depth and separation of the mode from the background. I also want the image to pop and have a bit of an edgy look in post. Thanks!

 8.
Thanks everyone. I think I will gel the flashes to balance with the ambient, and do a white balance reference with a card to make it easier in post. I do have Lightroom, so hopefully I can make this work. The location is just too cool to pass up. Worse comes to worst, I can just convert to black and white LOL.

 9.
I plan on doing a photo shoot with a model in a space that has orange coloured tungsten-type lighting. It's awful lighting, but the space is very unique, which is why I want to shoot there. I plan on using two speedlights to light my model. My goal is to shoot in RAW and change the ambient white balance in post to a more neutral colour temperature. My question is, should I be using a gel on the flashes to match the existing ambient light? If so, will I be able to change the white balance in post for both the ambient and the flash on the model so they match? I'm just trying to figure out what's best in this scenario. Thanks.
