1.
Hi there,

I am ugrading my 5d and XTi system - after returning from 3 months in Greenland with so many amazing musk ox, caribou, and whale shots out of focus that I am slapping myself for not upgrading beforehand.

I have already purchased a 6d to replace my 5d. I will pair this with the 24-70 f/4. I plan to replace my XTi with a 7d II, 80d, or a 7d, paired with my 70-200 f/4.

I've spent hours comparing 80d to 7d II but I can get a refurbished 7d for just shy of half the price. I can read specs all day about cross type AF points and dual this, servo that, but what does it actually mean in reality? How many of you have actually nailed an amazing shot with a 7d II that you would have missed with a 7d? Can you imagine a situation where the 7d II would nail something the 80d wouldn't? I want something that will not disappoint, and I will pay the exta for the 7d II if it will truly go the distance, but are we splitting hairs here? I am not a pro, but serious enough to carry two dedicated body/lens setups.
My question primarily pertains to wildlife but could eventually pertain to fast paced sports (like kids sporting events, not pro). I want to nail the whale's tail in front of the iceberg next time I'm on the once-in-a-lifetime boat tour of the ice fjord instead of looking at the sharp as a tack boat in the distance with the blurry tail my 5d returned to me last week.

Thanks for your advice!
