  1. I have APS-H Canon 1DII and 1DIII bodies that need sensor cleaning and I'd appreciate recommendations for cleaning products. The problem I'm having is finding APS-H swabs and I'm wondering if I could use the smaller APS_C swaps, would that work? It would be nice if it came in a kit.
  2. Awesome pictures and love the colors. The blurry background makes the image stand out focusing your attention to the flower.
  3. I've got a question for the knowledgeable photographers on photo.net, where (or who) develops your film? Until a few years ago my local camera store developed film but they like so many others in the area no longer develop film so I went digital. I've got a nice collection of auto focus and manual focus camera bodies and lenses and I'd like to start using up my freezer full of dated C41, E6, B&W CN41 and a few rolls of specialty film and I'm looking for someone to develop the film. I don't need high quality, what I'm looking for is 4x6 or 5x7 prints and a disk with the scanned negatives. Among my bodies I have the Nikkormat FTn, FT3, FM3a, FM2N, FM, F3HP, F100 and F5 plus some really nice Canon and Minolta bodies and a few lenses. After shooting my stockpile of film I'll get rid of most of my gear and go 100% digital. Sadly none of my friends or family members have any interest in a film camera, they all say it's to much work and it's too expensive and all they need is the latest generation of iPhones or equivalent. After shooting my last roll of film what I'd really like to do is donate the gear to a school that teaches photography with film but I'll worry about that later.
  4. The 50 sounds nice but I want a little more reach, I've been looking at the older non VC Tamron and 100 f/2.8 Tokina lenses. From what I've read it seems almost all 1:1 macro lenses are very sharp.
  5. I don't own a macro lens for my Canon EF mount bodies and I'm not concerned about using it with a mirrorless body since I don't own one. I'm looking for an affordable macro lens to give macro a try and see if it's something new to add to my hobby. I'm looking at a sub $300.00 lens. What do you use and what would you recommend?
  6. I have the a900 and a850 and I'm thinking about an IR conversion of the a900, anyone using a IR a900 or any other A mount body and who would you use for the conversion? I'm not capable of a DIY project. If I can't get it converted my other option is my 12 year old D700.
  7. I picked up an a900 on eBay about 7 years ago. My first Sony digital camera was the a77 which I still have but I didn't all in love with because I wanted full frame but couldn't afford and still can't afford the a99 so I bid on a well used a900 body and got it for cheap on eBay and it's an awesome body as long as I shoot at ISO 640 or lower. I've also added an a850 and some affordable (cheap) Minolta Maxxum and Sony lenses. Fast forward 7 years and prices are in the same price range today as when I purchased the a900 years ago.
  8. So glad to find this thread, my small EOS camera body collection includes the Elan IIe, Elan 7e and 1N plus I have the F-1N and T90. With the exception of the 1V I consider these to be the best of the EOS and FD lineup. I'd love to add the EOS-1 and 1V in mintish condition but no luck yet. I love the EOS-1 series bodies. I still love to shoot b&w and b&w CN film and scan the negatives with my Nikon CoolScan V ED. I also own the digital EOS 1Ds, 1D mkII, 70D, 6D and a newly purchased (November 2020) 5Ds. I love my Canon bodies, my first one was a Canon AE-1 Program given to me by my father-in-law when I was taking photography classes at the local community college 25 years ago, that's what started my CAS. Before that it was NAS and now it's small digital rangefinders. Does it ever end?
  9. The problem with my original EN-EL3e that was supplied with my D700 12 years ago is that it still reads O. I also purchased a second battery to have as a spare at the same time and it too reads O, it's as if they never go bad or lose their capacity. I find that hard to believe as my 12 year old batteries don't last full day. I've gotten into the habit of using the MB-D10 with either two EN-EL3e batteries or a EN-EL3e plus a 3rd party EN-EL4 to get through a full day of heavy usage. I recently purchased a PowerExtra EN-EL3e from eBay but haven't received it yet. If it works and hold a charge I'll get a couple more because I know that someday batteries for these old dSLR's will no longer be available.
  10. Z mount lenses are over priced compared to F mount equivalents. I used adapted lenses with other systems and I don't think any of them were as good as native lenses so I don't want to got the adapter route. I'll stay with my D800 + D7200 until they die before going mirrorless.
  11. I have a D600 and I never sent it in for the oil issue because I've never had an to begin with. I think these issues are sometimes exaggerated on the www.
  12. My D700 purchased new soon after Nikon's 2008 announcement doesn't see much use these days as I prefer my D800 or D600. Rather than selling it I'm thinking about getting an IR conversion and I'd like to know if the camera should be calibrated with a lens? My lens would be the AFs 24-120 f/3.5-5.6 VR or the AFs 50 f/1.4 both of which don't see much use. Would a different lens be a better choice? Who would you use for the conversion?
  13. I'm a long time SB-800 user and yes the interface is quirky but once you get used to it it'll make sense. My main flash these days is the SB-700 with the SB-800 used mostly as a slave.
  14. I've been using the Mark 1 100-400 with my 70D for backyard birds for a long time but I cheat. I set everything up on a tripod and use a wireless remote. That works for me, I agree about the seagulls. I photograph them at store parking lots here in east Tennessee and they are great to practice hand held birding.
  15. I recently purchased a new Canon 5Ds from B&H at a fantastic price of $1299 and I am having a problem with underexposed photographs when using either my 430EX or 430EX II and I'm giving 470EX some thought. I've seen a few videos and it looks amazing.
