1. Hi Richard Willaims. Thanks for hinting on Capture NX-D. I downloaded it and installed it to try. I do have many third party lenses from Tokina, Sigma and Tamron. I guess Capture NX-D do not have these third party lens profiles. I also thought about different Nikon lenses, but they too have similar issues on Distortion, Vignette and CA if not on higher degrees. So thinking about about long term photography benefits( like change of Camera System ,easy user interface), I purchased Lightroom Editor DVD. As expected Lightroom is better than Capture NX-D in terms of user interface and utilities. Thanks again for your suggestion on Capture NX-D . This should be very useful for Nikon DSLR users with no intention to buy separate image editor.
 2. Thank you Wouter Willemse for your advice . As you suggested, I thought about long term usage and I purchased Lightroom CD version and I am very happy with the editing results. Also I purchased Adobe Lightroom guide Book from Scott Kelby for fast learning. Thanks again.
 3. Hi Everyone, I am looking for Raw file ( NEF ) editor to correct only Vignette, Geometric Distortion using single click option. I know this sounds lazy, but right now I am focusing on improving my Photo skills. Though of purchasing LR 6.0 but I will end up paying too much for just Vignette and Geometric Distortion correction. On a different note, LR CC subscription doesn't sound good option to me. I tried Nikon's Capture NX-D but saving the edited image is tough job. Please suggest any free Raw editor wherein I can correct vignette and Geometric distortion using single click. I guess this kind of single click editor involves using built-in Lens profiles. Thanks.

 5.
Thanks Everyone for your very informative suggestions. Now I have better understanding on gear settings, environmental factors , time to be chosen. I will take care of those .

 7.
Hi there,
After I read about 'mini moon', there was spike in curiosity to photograph Moon . Though I myself can not make difference between 'mini moon' and normal moon , i just took photograph of moon day after 'mini moon' . Moon was well above Horizon, may be I say 30% above from Horizon.
Though this photo seems to be good and well appreciated by friends and family, I felt there is lot of scope of improvement.
This Cropped Photograph of Moon is JPEG straight out of Camera. No photo editing is done except cropping.
Here is the information of this photo:
--------------
Camera: Nikon D7100
Lens: Tamron 70-300 f/4-5.6 SP Di VC USD
Handheld , no support or no tripod is used.
Color Mode = Black & White
Exposure Mode= Manual ( i.e M setting on Dial)
Image quality= jpeg fine ( 8 bit)
Aperture= 7.1
Shutter speed= 1/200
ISO=200
focal length =300mm
Exposure Compensation= 0 ev
Metering= Center weighted
VC ( Vibration Compensation) = ON
White Balance= AUTO1,0,0
Color space = sRGB
Focus= Auto Focus
AF Area Mode= AUTO
Active D light=OFF
Distortion Control =OFF
-----------
Here is the Photo link
http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=1090425
Please suggest how I can improve Moon Photography techniques/settings without using Tripod . Of course, with existing Camera and Lens.
Have a nice day
Malli

 8.
Hi Chip Chipowski,
Thanks a lot for shooting different subjects with different apertures.
Your pictures makes me feel that OOF is better than 50mm f1.8g; of course with 85mm f1.8g we need little more space from subject. So 85mm f1.8g adds to my wish list.
Have a good time.
Malli

 9.
Hi Chip Chiposwki,
Thanks for sharing your pictures using 85f1.8g & D700. I enjoyed it.
As you mentioned, please share pictures using 85f1.8g on D300 at your convenient time.
As you see from my response , I decided to buy 50mm f1.8g due to reasons mentioned in my response post. But still I am curious to see your pictures using 85f1.8g & D300 and of course your thoughts too.

Thanks again,
Malli

 10.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I am with right folks !!
Taking average of your opinions I learn following.

Bokeh is more of a subjective matter, depends on background , distance to back ground and of course depends on personal taste.

Both 50mm f1.8g and 85 f1.8g are very good for portraits/bokeh and 85 f1.8g favors more.

I also thanks for pointing other lenses from Tamron and Voigtlander.
So both 85 f1.8g and 50f1.8g are very good.Looking at price factor I will buy 50 f1.8g for D7100 APS. ( I live in India; local Authorized store Retail price of 50 f1.8g is equivalent to $170 USD and 85 f1.8g is $430 USD)
I am planning for Full frame body some time within next two years, then I will buy 85 f1.8g for portraits on Full frame, and continue to use 50mm f1.8g on Full Frame body as standard prime lens.
Have a wonderful Day.
-Malli

 11.
Hi ,
I own Nikon D7100 ( DX DSLR) and planning to buy a portrait lens for this camera. After reading internet views and reviews, I narrowed down to either Nikon 50mm f1.8g or Nikon 85mm f1.8g. But further , I am not unable to decide between these two. I really do NOT have chance to check it myself at a camera store.
I am mainly concentrating on Bokeh quality for portraits. If you have experience of Bokeh quality on these two lenses on any DX Nikon DSLR can you please suggest which one is better?
I know that 50mm f1.8g and 85mm f1.8g for FX are equivalent to DX focal length of 75mm and 127mm respectively. But , for me more than focal length I am more interested in Bokeh quality for a DX DSLR
Your suggestion/ opinions will help me in choosing between Nikon 50mm f1.8g or 85mm f1.8g.

Thanks
Malli
