I was in North Carolina to shoot a couple of Durham Bulls baseball games last fall, so I had my D4 and 2 long (400 & 300mm) lenses with me only. I borrowed my Dad's Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Zoom Lens to shoot a Blake Shelton concert we got tickets to. The lights in this concert were concentrated and very strong while the backgrounds were very dark, so I had to manually shoot everything based on test exposures I did on Blake's face. I was able to shoot at ISO 3200, 1/320-1/500 for most of the concert and 90% of what I shot was sharp and colored correctly. I would say other than a fish eye, I really didn't need another lens. I made a great 11x17 hard cover coffee table photo book and gave it to my wife for Christmas - looks awesome!
