1. Greg: those are old posts generated by the Leica rumors and its adv for the new lens last year. It looks like nobody have yet obtained one.
 2. I bought an M8.2 for $4 K several years ago. I sill have it for B & W and IR. Excellent camera!
 3. Has anyone actually got hold of one? I placed my order on Dec 6, 2016 on B & H and it is still out of stock. If you actually have one, is it worth the wait? How is the quality of the lens?
 4.
Dear Greg:

Here is more rubbish for the M9 besides having to ship the camera to Leica God knows where and wait:
1. The SD card is unreadable after you think you took a lot of pictures. This was widely reported several years ago by a professional photographer and Leica tried to cover it up.

2. The color of pictures appear terrible compared to Nikon and Canon.

I'll never trade in my M8.2.

 6.
Because of M8's IR sensitivity, on so called B & W pictures, more details will appear, especially on portraits. M9 has a defective sensor so you can forget about it.

 7.
Justin: The Elmar 5 cm/3.5 too slow? Does it make any difference in digital ? Just take your M8 and take as many pictures as you can instead of weighing these suggestions regardless how sound they may be.

 8.
Not cheap for these stuff. None appears valuable except the 21 mm f/4 ($700 ?). Both the 135 mm and 90 mm together may worth less than $100. Ask yourself, would I be using a 135 mm with a VF on a range finder cam ?

 11.
Hope your grandfather's lenses don't have goggles. Mounting 35 mm and 50 DR lenses are not recommended from the M8 to the newest Type 262.
M8 is very good for black and white because of its IR sensitivity. It can also do IR hand held.
Get the newer M8.2.
Forget about the M9 because of its sensor mold growth problems.

 12.
For Leica SLs, the legendary SL2 with all analogue dials and huge view finder is the one to get for use, and collecting.
The relatively rare Nikon FM3A is also great for use and collecting.
I used both and still have them. I don't believe they would depreciate as fast as other SLs.

 13.
Additional inform regarding CLA

That Leica CLA Culture - Dante Stella
www.dantestella.com/technical/cla.html July 6, 2010. Have you ever stopped to notice just how many Leica cameras have "CLA" (Clean, Lubricate, and Adjust) mentioned in their auction or classified ...

 14.
Dear William:

Just run a couple rolls of films through. If everything are fine then save your money. CLA is over rated. Also, think about how many rolls of film you are going to shoot this year. I have a used M2 and M3 (double stroke) for 30 years and they still shoot fine never had CLA. The M2 was a well used camera with a dent and broken film counter when I bought it in 1979, but the shutter speeds were still within tolerance when it was checked by a traveling Leica tech who visited dealers back in perhaps 2003. I used the M3 to shoot close up with B & W films two years ago, and exposures were as expected.
Everyone was talking CLA, but think before you throw your money away.
