  1. There's so much great photography here that I'm embarrassed to post my own snapshots. (Wooter, that night shot in the square is gorgeous!) But one from Friday at work and Saturday at home, getting to know my "new point-and-shoot," the Rolleicord V. (I've got a Yashica-D on the way, whoo-HOO!)
  2. Gentlemen, many thanks--it can't be easy to help someone as clueless as I am. :-) The flex/cord models are confusing to poor old Gramps. :-) This is my current 'point-and-shoot,' serial 1584886.
  3. OK, I'm a Rollei newbie: I've owned 8-10 MF cameras over the last dozen years; my "real camera" for the last 5 years has been a 500c/m. My fun carry-around Yashica-D died a few weeks ago, and I bought a new "point and shoot"--a Rolleiflex V. Photo below, just a snapshot from work from the Rolleiflex, on Acros 100. I think from the serial number that my Rolleiflex is around a 1955 model (slightly but not much older than me.) :-) So I've talked to a guy locally who might want to take a guitar of mine in trade for his Rolleicord III, s/n 118xxxx. If I'm reading the tables right, that's in the same ballpark, age-wise, as my Rolleiflex V. I'm not sure what the ordinary trading price would be for that camera--the guy says it's in good working condition. I'm enjoying my new P&S Rolleiflex V, it's fun to play with. (And it fits in my briefcase MUCH better than my beloved 500c/m, so I can carry it around on casual occasions.) But the lens on the Rolleiflex is not super-sharp, at least compared to the Hasselblad. Would this Rolleicord III be a signficant step up in terms of lens quality? Enough to be worth bothering with a trade? What sort of cash-sale price would a Rolleicord like that have? (I'm offering a '94 MiM Telecaster in trade, a gem, sunburst, light as a feather and rings like a bell, with a HSC; $350 cash would be a fair price on that.) Any advice and opinions from Rollei users will be very welcome--THANKS! --ken the Rollei newbie
  4. The gent with the yellow sweater over his shoulders: his eye has clearly been caught. :-)
  5. I've got a Sunpak "Versapod." The bottom foot of the monopod opens into three legs in a triangle arrangement, about 8" apart from each other. And you can tilt it to use just two of the feet. Seems to work very well. I think I got it from B&H.
  6. That is just all kinds of fun looking! I really admire people who do creative things that are so out of the ordinary.
  7. I'm getting to know "my new point-and-shoot," a Rolleicord V. Just a shot from the building I work in, on HP5.
  8. My first Nikon, many many years ago, was a battered FE that looked like it had been used for breaking rocks and driving nails. It worked perfectly, for many years and a lot of use. A few years ago I gave it to the daughter of a friend, who needed a manual film camera for her college photography classes. (The FE of course was manual-capable, if not strictly manual.) The girl has graduated now and that FE is still going strong. :-)
