  1. Oh I see, yeah I can see that now how it’s just supposed to touch the cassette. I am loading it correctly, with the AE-1P you can’t load it upside down. :) So that means I’m likely back to square one. What else could it be, everything else seems nice and clean.
  2. Thanks, I was hoping I could solve it somehow without having to change the back door as I’ve already spent more than I should have on the camera. ;-/ The rolls were developed by two different labs in New York and Stockholm.
  3. I’ve shot 10-20 rolls on my AE-1 Program and a lots of shots across most of these rolls have horizontal scratches on them. The attached example has very obvious scratches as it is mostly blue sky. I have looked into what could be causing this and the only thing I found was at the end of the back door of the camera, beside the pressure plate, there’s a piece that puts pressure on the film as it comes out of the roll. Somehow this piece has gotten visible scratches, I don’t know what the previous owner did to achieve this. I’ve attached an image. So, this is likely the cause right? Now I’m trying to figure out what the best way to fix this is. Buying a new back door? Putting nail polish over it? Some kind of paint? Thanks for any advice!
  4. Hi! I’ve shot a couple of rolls on my AE-1 Program. Loaded a new roll today after shooting with my medium format camera for a while, where I usually have tension on the film strip going across to the take up spool so on my AE-1 I noticed that the film was budging out a bit even after advancing 2-3 times. Tried with two different film rolls and rewound them back and tried again. Also tried to fiddle with the take up spool to give it more tension but that didn’t work. Is it supposed to be like this or will this cause uneven/distorted exposure of the image on the film? Or will the door push the film straight so its straight and perfectly parallel to the shutter curtain once closed? Anyone getting what I’m saying? :-)
  5. Hi! I can’t find the info I’m looking for, does the SRDx function work on C-41 color negatives or only BW and Kodachrome? I can’t get it to work on my scans in SilverFast SE. Shouldn’t it be the same as the PS/LR SRDx plug-in?
  6. Yeah.. I paid $40 and thought it’d be a really fresh item.. ah well. Maybe I’ll get a refund.
  7. Thanks for your replies! I’ve seen good and bad results with Plustek 8100, to my eyes at least, matching the quality of Reflecta CrystalScan 7200’s bad and good results respectively. I think I’ll be using Vuescan and just skip Silverfast. Plustek 8100 is 170$ cheaper than Reflecta CrystalScan 7200 in and around Sweden it seems.
  8. I just got a 188A flash from Japan. It was off eBay and sold as “top mint”. It looks brand new and the test light glows red when using four AA 1.5V Alkaline batteries. But the flash won’t fire, when I push then test button or when I use it with my AE-1P. Do you think it’s broken or am I missing something? There is no noise when powering on the flash like with a lot of other flashes I’ve used.
  9. I’m new to film and I am getting a Plustek Opticfilm 8100 which I understand can achieve an effective resolution of 3600ppi when scanned at the full 7200ppi. This produces large files with double or triple pixels so I’ve read it’s recommended to downsize. How do I downsize the 7200ppi scan to 3600ppi without losing much or any real information or quality. Do I need Photoshop for this or is Lightroom enough? I’m unsure of which editing softwares I need for tweaking my scans. Previously I’ve only been working with RAW in Lightroom mobile. Thanks for any recommendations!
