  2. Yes, I meant the T3. I did order a Tamron Adaptall2 adapter for the Konica AR mount Thank you for your helpful response!
  3. I have decided to buy a Konica SLR based on reputation and my experience with their rangefinders in the past and now (Auto S 3) I bought a Autoreflex TC3 and the Hexanon 28mm f3.5 that comes with it. What Hexanon zoom lenses are the choice of any users here? I already have several Tamron lenses that I used with other camera systems. I have read that for a standard lens tyhe Hexanon 40mm f1.8 is outstanding
  4. Yes I have searched for a body for parts but I am not willing to pay that for just this part I have another !!a which is perfect and recently CLA'd by Advance Camera in Beaverton, Or. The damaged camera can function without the clip, however
  5. I haven't posted often lately but here goes. I have a black dial Contax 11a with a broken spring clip that retains the lens. Any clues to where I can find one? Would a spring from a Kiev IV fit? Thanks, John
  6. I just recently purchased a Leicaflex SL2 and I found that a Tamron Adaptal 2 lens - an SP 24-48mm did in fact mount to the body. I did not go further than mounting it and firing the shutter. This would not mount on my SL. In my opinion, the Tamron SP 24-48mm F2.5 is a decent lens. I have other Leica lenses that work on the SL2 and my R6. FWIW, there are Leica zooms made by Minolta and Sigma. John
  7. Don't do it! ? I have other Leica lenses and I in no way have the money to buy a 24mm f2.8 Elmarit. What would you say about using a Minolta lens or a Sigma lens. These have used as Leica badged lenses. Although I have used Leica cameras and lenses going back to the 1970's.
  8. I am waiting for my Leica R6 to arrive from KEH and I decided to look for a 24mm lens. This is my primary focal length for shooting with film. I am normally a Lumix GX7 digital user but I also love to shoot film. I couldn't in any way justify what a Leitz 24mm f2.8 sells for so I found the Tamron with a Leica R adapter with it on EBay. Have any of you ever shot that Tamron lens on a Leica R camera body? I do have a 50mm f2 Summiron and the 35-70mm Vario-Elmarit R (60)
  9. I am new to this section of Photo-Net so please allow me to jump in. I am no stranger to RF cameras - my first were a Leica M4 and a Leica M2R back in 1970, bought at Olden Camera in NYC. I owned a nice Contax IIa several years but let it go. I just recently bought a Kiev 4A, made in 1960, mostly out of curiosity. I unfortunately have to wait to use it as I am having surgery on Monday. I am looking at buying. What do I look for in buying a Contax IIA? There are several from Japanese dealers with prices less than others. Do any of you have a Contax IIA on the market? I hope to sell a Leica R 28mm f2.8 which will help fund something else. This is the Kiev I bought. Thank you for reading. John - Albany, Oregon
  10. I wound up buying a mint Leica R4S MOD.2 body from George Ury a couple of weeks ago for $200 as a close out. Nice camera.
  11. Definitely. The fact that he initially not only decided to keep the camera but also refuse to refund the money made him look pretty bad. I already owned a perfectly working XD11 and I suppose I could have kept the XD-S and used the XD11 for parts - assuming that the parts were the same. I don't know what the labor would have been. I see now that there is an XD-S with a 24mm f2.8 MD Rokkor for sale.
  12. Today I heard back from the seller and he said the camera was perfect with no defect and he was going to keep the camera and would not issue a refund. I contacted Ebay and told the agent on the phone about the camera and it's problem. He agreed to refund me the money. Then later the seller contacted me and said that until today he was unaware of the camera's problem and that he would check it out and maybe send a refund! I told him a day after I received the camera of the battery drain issue and that a professional tech had inspected it. His ad clearly states a 30 money back guarantee. I had contacted him well within 30 days and he agreed to the return - a couple of weeks ago.
  13. My mint looking Leica R4s MOD.2 came today and it looks perfect - except for one small thing. As a precaution I replaced the foam seal around the film window. The foam that came on the camera was a bit "gooey" looking. (for lack of a better word) I had some spare material and removed and replaced the foam. I will shoot some film soon. My wife and I are driving down to Virginia City next week for a few days. A great place for photo ops, especially b&w.
  14. The Minolta XD-S turned out to be defective and the seller in Japan has agreed to take it back. Then I looked at George Ury's website and saw an alternative. He is selling out his stock because of retirement and he has a mint R4S Mod P which I will buy for a reduced price. He will give a little back for the broken R4 that he sold me a short while ago. If any of you are looking for Leica gear (or other good equipment) you might check his website.
  15. The seller finally agreed to take it back - he had 30 day return in his ad but was reluctant. So tomorrow I will ship it back. Now I am a bit "gunshy" about finding another. This guy assured me that it worked perfectly but it didn't. There are a couple more Minolta XD-S's in Japan to choose from, but I will most likely buy a black XD11 from a US seller.
