1. Well since I have the retainer ring maybe I can make a new lens board. Or it may work to 3D print one. Thanks again for the wealth of information offered! Joe
  2. Another very valuable web site. Thanks again. I suppose there is no point in lamenting the lack of standardization in the past. But apparently it's pretty difficult to buy a LF lens with any confidence it'll fit your camera? Are some of these lenses the same as Leica screw mounts?
  3. The barrel diameter of the lens currently in the toyo 4x5 is 1.25 inches or 31.5mm. The lens is a Schneider-kreuznach symmar 135/5.6 with a copal no. 0 shutter. The new lens: The barrel (or outside diameter of the mounting threads in this case) is 30mm or about 1.2 inches. So they are close, but the retaining ring obviously won't engage the threads of the smaller lens. Is there a convention to the naming of thee different sized lenses? The Wollensak ExWA has an Alphax shutter with no shutter size designated.
  4. I just took possession of the Wollensak "extreme wild angle" below. But it came on a smaller lens board. When I unscrewed it I found it is a little small for my camera's lens board. I think I can make one that fits, but I'm wondering how many different lens sizes did view cameras ship with? How are they measured or described? Because this lens was mounted on a much smaller lens board, is it possible it won't work on my 4x5? Thanks
  5.
Thanks Charles, I was able to pick it up for around $60.00. Its pretty dusty but I hope it cleans up nicely. That Camera Eccentric site is pretty amazing! Too bad it doesn't show up in the search engines due to the fact that its all images and not text. If the site owners have time they may want to create a hyperlinked table of contents of sorts.

  6.
Can anyone tell me anything about a Wollensak-4x5-Series-IIIA-3-88mm-f12.5 with an Alphax shutter?
I'm still trying to figure out large format lenses. I would be using this lens on a togo 4x5. I understand its a very wide angle lens?
Sorry for the newbie question!
Joe

  7.
I thought I'd share a couple snaps of a great old developing kit I found at a local camera store:

  8.
Hello all. I took my 1.4 apart to clean it. It had oily blades and a haze that was producing low-contract images.
Everything seemed to go well. I got the aperture housing out, front and rear lens elements off and they cleaned up well. I almost declared myself a superhero, when I tried to put it back together :-)
Everything went into place until I got to the rear mount. There just doesn't seem to be the right spacing for the AE pin, the stop down link and the aperture selector to all go where they need to go.
I could put up a link to a video, but thought I would check for any troubleshooting suggestions first.
Thank you!
Joe

Testing a Vivitar 70-210 macro zoom I purchased used for my nikon d100. Experimenting with natural lighting a black object. I desaturated and added some subtle blurring to the back ground.
