1.
I had no issues using a 266x 32GB card from SanDisk back before I traded in my 40D, so I'm pretty sure the limit is = or > 32GB. Individual card compatibility may vary.

  2.
I'm assuming that you are at least somewhat experienced with electronics repair, since you had a spare motherboard on hand. However, I seriously would not invest anything but spare parts from broken cameras into this camera. With that much corrosion, I'm at least 50% certain it took a swim at some point or got VERY wet, and 100% certain it had a very hard life. And some point it becomes a Ship of Theseus situation...you've replaced everything so is it even the same camera? If the electronics were shot, the shutter mechanism is probably not long for this world either, as I'm sure there is corrosion hiding in other places.
If you are just looking for a project, fine. If you intend to do any serious photography with this camera, I wouldn't expect it to work regularly or for very long. I'd pick up a different used 5DmkII if you are tied to that model for sentimental or budgetary reasons. And I definitely wouldn't sell it if you do get everything working...you probably won't have a happy customer in a few weeks or months.

  3.
Good update, Mark. I'm not shocked by the first issue with peripheral illumination, I'm assuming the camera doesn't have a profile for that lens.
I'm actually kinda curious if anybody has experienced any issues with the Tamron 150-600 yet.

  4. It's not a Foveon. It's apparently the same Kodak sensor used in the Kodak DCS ProSLR/n (itself derived from the Kodak DCS Pro 14n) in a Sigma designed body. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodak_DCS_Pro_SLR/c https://www.dpreview.com/articles/2123039594/kodakslrc Very fascinating sensor...full frame, apparently no anti-aliasing filter, etc...
  5.
There is no one lens that will adequately cover your range of interests. Like others have said, you need to let everyone know what lenses you already own, so we can see what gaps in coverage you have. Generally speaking, most people lack coverage at the ends of the range, where landscape and wildlife photograph tend to be the most demanding anyway.
And NO lens will automatically make your work look more "professional."

  6.
Definitely try a different memory card AND a different card reader. It looks like some sort of file corruption, which is *usually* the result of a card issue, either formatting, reading, or just failure of the card. If that doesn't sort it out, chances are the camera has some sort of internal issue and will require service by Canon or replacement.

  7.
Do you need $150 desperately? Otherwise I'd hang on to it. Always nice to have a backup body.

  8. I had trouble getting a modern universal release cable to mount on the Graflex shutter that came on the 135mm on the Pacemaker Speed I used to have, and ended up buying a period one, but the body release worked fine with a modern one that was reasonably bulky.

Lovely concept. I like when people shift from taking in the whole waterfall to just a smaller segment of it. It works especially well when, like you've done here, they select a nice mossy segment. My only objection is that I'm seeing a little too much green in the water itself. If it is natural reflection, then I suppose it isn't objectionable, but I might adjust the color slightly if it isn't natural.
