  1. Thanks very much for the pointer! Jim
  2. Hello, I’ve recently acquired a Fuji GX617 with the “normal” 180mm lens (and viewfinder). I took it out yesterday for my first shots with it and am not sure how to interpret the scene in the viewfinder. The manual isn’t any help in this regard and I’ve come up dry online. I’ve attached a photo to illustrate. The first (widest) box consists of the hashed double lines. Inside that, there is a smaller box of a single dotted line. Finally, there is a solid single horizontal line just under the dotted line box. Can anyone explain these lines to me? I assume the larger double line box is what the camera will capture but I’m not certain. Thanks for any help. Sincerely, Jim
  3. Hello, Does anyone have any experience opening up an old Autoknips II self-timer to clean and lubricate it? I am mechanically proficient, but have limited experience working on watches and small, complex mechanical devices like cameras, lenses, or (presumably) these old self-timers. I don't want to open it up only to have an explosion of springs, gears, and levers I'll never be able to reassemble. The Autoknips is functional, but the timing is slow. My goal is just to clean it up and lubricate it in the expectation that it will work more smoothly. Any advice appreciated. Thanks much, Jim

  5. Hello, I'm a new-to-Hasselblad shooter with a magazine status indicator question. I'm on my second roll of film (Velvia 100 slides) and have had the same issue with both rolls. I believe I've loaded them properly and attached the A12 magazine properly to a wound body. The magazine status indicator is white and the number 1 shows in the frame counter. When I take the first shot, the magazine status indicator turns red. (All this is as it should be, I think.) When I wind the camera after the first shot, the frame counter advances to 2, the film winds properly, the primary and secondary shutters and mirror all reset, but the magazine status indicator goes from red, through white and black, and ends up back on red when the winding sequence is complete. It does this for all subsequent frames. The stop after the 12th frame and the subsequent end-of-roll wind-off both function as described in the manual. As I understand it, the indicator should return to white at the completion of the winding sequence rather than pass through white and black back to red. I'm wondering if someone might tell me if I'm making a rookie mistake of some sort or whether there is a malfunction. If a malfunction is suspected, is there a way to tell if it's the back or the body which requires service? I have a second back on order, but haven't received it yet to troubleshoot. Thanks for any help available. Sincerely, Jim
