  1. Sorry it is very doubtfull that those 2 lens will get you by while they are both good lenses for a lot of work. You won't likely get the warmth of the moment, with a lens that capture both parents and child or children within being able to enclose some of the surroundings and the 50 on a crop won't give you the wide angle of view you need it's good for natrual light most of the time, but a lot of times even with the 1.4 version of the 50 I'm searching for extra light, and for sure I have to stay way back to get a full scene ,it will be perfect for some shots and worthless in others and the 70-200 will be limited by the same issues ,no room for capturing heat you need with the 70mm ,you might want to rent yourself a wider prime and see what you thnk works best ,if you continue to use cropped bodies this will force you into wider primes, which is all I'm using myself ,but that's fine for me, I have the 24-105l and do well wit it on more wider shots and work we'll with zoom shots and of course it gives perfect pictures.Primarily though the 2 by them self won't make the job complete without a lot if lucky shots.
  2. If it were me I'd just have my 24-105 worked on and think about a differnet prime. U have the 85 1.8 which I own as well and a lot of what I read and hear ,the 100 f2 and the 85 1.8 is not enough change to bother ,I myself wanted the 24-70 but as you say wow it's like ridiculously high for us that aren't making a,living with the lens , I went to the Camera store a while back and the Sales person said there are 2 lens that is sought after and that is the canon version and the Tamron, it has a 6 year warranty and he has the 5d markii and he uses the Tamron himself he also said that he thought the Tanorn was a better build and he also said there was no noticeable difference in the two ,the one lens he said he'd neve part with is the 24-105 so I thnk beings he made commission and selling the Tamron at 1300 versus 2 k for the other he was being honest ,so I took the dem lens out and shot a few pics and they were just as good as the Canon , I'm sold on some canon items and some can be just as good as , I don't have a big budget for more lens at least not soon , so I comprimised and bought the 17-50 Tamron from the grey market for 285 dollars and it's great indoors the 2.8 works pretty good ,I'd rather had the 24-70 but that's a lot.money to spend when your not out making money with the lens.
  3. Well , the 28-135 kit came with my first camera ,and I have to say its a good lens it's not the very best in dark but it's very sharp and is fast at focusing and sip and tripod is much better ,for that lens , We both the 24-105 lens and I find it Adorinan half price at 625 and no tax apor shipping ,and it's been by far the fastes ,most inedible fats sharp lens. An the IS has made such sharp shots ,when we least expected it , we did a late late night weeding sort of like I a sultry version of the fisrt night alone, as crept as it sounds it was great it handled very well. The lens was plenty wide enough and focus was wonderful , I also use the 50mm1.4 which is. Good and sharp but maybe not the full sky she would be after , have you considered the 10-22 ,it was one of my first puce chase e when doing beach weddings , I think your post was what do I chose out of what I have and with that I think loaning here the 24/105 is a. Worthy option , I have to say it shocked me whe we did some after editing in Lightroom , I wish her a great trip ,and envy her future adentures , we are not pros ,we simply fulfill what. We are skied to do and take what makes us happy within limits , soon we will be leaving the states and spending at least a season or two in Scotland and France and then England lastly so I sure hope we see the sights that make minds. More creative and those like your family ,encouraging to us whom are in transitional process.
  4. Yes a 6d will be fine for a wedding ,your lens at 2.8 should do fine, the 6d is very good with light ,,the 430 your most likely going to want shoot manual , and you really should be prepared on the batteries for backup assuming you don't have several already I ues the enelopp on the 430exii as its all u can do, for the most part .The 2CF ,you have are they really fast cars because the 6D will eat up a lot of space and ,and processing is faster yet ,but if your cards are slow and less than 16 gig each you might have a problem ,but if course I'm assuming your indoors ,Are you using a flash bar ? You could also use a trigger for flash and use umbrella if your doing traditiional shots. The churches I ended up in when I started off in had a lot natural wood versus ,drywall and natural light and the 430exii left me doing a lot of editing ,if you can I would certainly make point to go to the place of the ceremony and get my practice shots in first for lighting ,you know ther are several non Canon flashes that can be slaved and follow the 430exii fo extra Light and for around 90 bucks there is one on Amazon and more places that have the same light power as the 580exII and have the exact same ports for using battery packs ,or other options I did this also, I have the 430exii and 2 of the 580exii and then I biugh tow knock offs and they are excellent I've been using the Neewer battery packs and they will fire the 580 equivalents right at 1500 flashes full power so no missed. Shots. I tried a lot of combinations ,before I got comfortable doing a lot of weddings and lighting was always my biggest enemy , I hope you have a very successful time and if you want to consider an extract fllash ,I'll shoot ya link yiu ,know with the 580 kick off you can control the canon 430exii they are capable of keeping all canon flashes awake when you need them to be.
  5. Absolutely I agree with Craig, as long as your using and EF or EFS lens for canon , I see no reason why there would be any new with the old issues, A lot of the new package cameras have been comeing with 18-135 if I remebr right,so You should be good to go,clean your contact points and have a great holiday season the new t5i is a massive improvement coated to just 5 years back when the Rebel Xti and others came in to market, so your ISO and bir rate ,with more than enough MPEG to crop your photos wih a mass of success, happy holidays . Jim
  6. Hey There Paul if they batteries have been unused for sometime, the best thing to to or what I have done is two options , I take very mild sand paper and scuff up the brass tabs on both batteries and the Charger, u can also use a good grad eraser and get the same results ,even steel wool, works if u have any, so just scruff them up let them run all the way out and start the recharge adn your batteries should show full again, they will do just what you are talking about if unused for a long period , this alway works ford me , I have the same problem with all nicad or lithium batteries, and I use canon and knock batteries ,try this and if your still having a problem ,we canon junkies will help you figure it out. Jim
  7. Thanks for info,it clarifies many questions I get from time to time and and now I have a source of truths in our rights as photographers .
  8. What I use for instances like yours is ,what I use on my leather car seats and Etc,I have both Black and Tan leather and I use a leather cleaner ,first and then the leather treatment afterwards , u can get it at Walmart both for under ten bucks ,DuPont makes one an 3m does also, my steering wheel is solid leather and laced, on a old BMW and nice I clean and treat it and ten rest of the leather , it looks brand new ,and I have been doing the same with my camera straps and harness equip that is leather !it's a cheap fix and holds up a pretty lengthy time . I always use a leather cleaner and then a leather protection wax and this keeps everything i use it for looking and feeling brand new. Saves lots of money and looks great for very little effort.
  9. If a have read your post correctly Ur wanting to on so if the Canon 10-22 would be the lens you want for landscape and etc, I think that ur post states that it is suggested that inky L Len will give you the photos you are desiring and and that anything shirt of that would be a waste , So here's my experience I have in this area ! Myself own the 60D as well, and it will give incredible results for outside shots ,inside work and nearly anyplace that you have the lighting to support the lens, I bough it for shooting wide angles if the large groups of wedding parties and it's truly wonderful ,but you don't want to shoot at 10mm or your going to get vignettimg ,and some dark corners in the shot ,I shoot at 12 mm and have had incredible luck, you will often read that folks are shocked that the 10-22 is not a L lens and I totally agree, the buing EF lens for the futile use of full body is very sensible but not always affordable , I have found Tamron EF lens that are very good EF lens for hundreds less than canon lens, so maybe try like I did , take the camera to the store sample all the lens your in question of and then make a choice, I bought the Tamron 17-50 which work on my future big bodied camera and I also bought the canon 85mm 1.8 ,then there's the 28-135 canon EF ,that's a awesome lens for less than 500 ,so lots of money spent on EF lens don't guarantee alll your fixes ,but u can buy EF lens for less and still accomplish most of the goals your after , I've been shooting digital for about 7 years now ans I do a ton of weddings and etc and ,lighting is large factor and if you combine that with lens that are 2.8 or faster you can do fine ,The 10-22 canon I have is a bit cheaper than it was a few years ago , so it's a good purchase , it's very fast and super crisp and ,handles many different work options , I have sample work if you need to see what I shoot,I use the 40ds still and a couple of 60s ans one day will buy a 5d ,but for now I'm in no rush .
