1. I had a fire in my office and was able to upgrade via insurance to a 5d Mark III... gave my daughter the 5D... she loves it, and I find the Mark III just fine for everything and I would not go any further in buying new, Sony etc., I also have Leica M9 and M10. with the software available now I don't see how anyone needs anything else. lightroom etc. it's so easy now compared to when I was making my living shooting. And egads, the phones!!!!
2. I'm also wondering if I can boot the iMac 27 (same set up as yours) from and external HD running )OS 10.6.8 so I can scan with Nikon Scan.
3. I just had a fire in my new office, an electrical fire and smoke damage to my equipment. Looks as if I'll have to replace my 2009 Mac Pro with 32GB memory, 4 hard drives equaling almost 6.5 Terabytes. I'm just wondering if anyone is using a new iMac for their work.
4. Just had a fire in my office. I have to replace my Mac Pro 2009 era. Anyone working with a 27" iMac, instead of the new Mac Pro?

I have used the IMac for several years and love it. Working with the larger screen is wonderful too. It takes up little space on my desk. So, I give it a thumbs up for sure.
5.
i just purchased a 5d Mark III body only as I had a 5d and the 24-105. the Mark III is a big step up not only 22.3 mgps but in terms of ergonomics, battery life, all in all a great camera. I also shoot in the studio and I expect to see the improvements in the newer sensor. I purchased it on ebay for $1750 with 4 batteries, box, cards etc. A great camera.
