    D810 vs D4

shooting with a D800 abd D500 right. now and have a D3 on the shelve. want to upgrade the D800 and ave about 1000. bothe the D4 and D810 are close in price on ebay
  2. Vermont ski area mountain summit in summer . 3 shot HDR Nikon D800 nikkor 24-70 F2.8
  3. Brooklyn Bridge at night, shot with d700 24-85 F28
  4. A camera is a tool. some were better than others but all were capable of getting the job done. That being said I am a equipment junkie and always wanted top notch. Back in the film days cameras were more affordable and easier to get the better models.
  5. I'm thinking about buying a 14-24 f2.8 Nikon. it has 2 small scratch marks on the front element. It's a great buy for the price. I have read that small scratches on the front element of any lens has no to a minimal effect om image quality. I have seen pitcures take thru shattered front elements or filters that look ok. If a completely sharted lens can create a decent image, just how much will these affect the quality of photos from this lens
  6. when I want to shoot film I count 1,2,3
  7. I've decided to go with the nikon 300 f4 ed if instead of the 300 f4 af s lens. From what I read the optical quality of the 2 lens is very close to each other. The build quality of the older all metal lens makes it a rugged war machine that will last forever. Not to also mention that there is no silent wave motor to queel or go bad. All of my bodies support the screw drive AF. Yes it a little slower focusing, but for what I intend to use it for that's fine. Bessides I'm saving almost 200 on the used purchase price going with the AF ED IF one.
  8. I been try to buy a used nikon 300 mm f4 af s lens. I keep running into lens that have the same problem - the af motor is making a squeeling sound. Normally when i see this i think the afs motor is about to go bad. But for some reason it almost looks like it is standard without impending trouble for this lens Any experience or history i should consider
  9. before we go 2 equipment happy, I have a challenge for you, 4 photos,all have minimal post processing and were shot this past summer. . 1 was shot with a 16 year old 6mp D100, 1 with a 12mp D300 ,1 with a 25mp D500 and one with a 35mp D800. which is which?
  10. It's much more possible your camera with get phone capabilities and you will not need to carry your phone around. They have wi fi already
  11. several and none make this sound
  12. I just picked up a used Nikon 300 mm f4 af-s in excellent shape. After I got it home and mounted it, I notice a squeal and slight clanking sound coming from the focusing motor, How concerned should I be ?. Is it a keeper or a quick return?
  13. yes but I don't think that people with lower end nikon dx cameras are looking to use primes. all purpose zooms are the lens of choice for those cameras. I think anyone looking for the critical differences from primes is using a much better camera. the most popular one, , a fast normal lens exists the 35mm 1.8 DX
