  1. If the answers given are not what you want then I suggest you put it into auction where it will find its level. You asked for advice but do not seem to want to take it. Peter Naylor in Oz is the expert on these cameras but I don' t think he is on this forum any more. Finally I thought this site was about using cameras and not what they are worth.
  2. Is it just me in thinking that the asking price is a bit high by about a factor of four? If it had been a Dag then perhaps the seller would be nearer the mark. Nice image but not in my price range.
  3. Rick, the lens is reversed so that the front element faces the film. It gives a circular image but this does not matter when you are recording a circular radar image. They were used in RAF aircraft and the Kodak 35 was used as Britain did not have a suitable 35mm camera until after WW2.
  4. The Argus may have been popular in the U.S. but in Europe it was outsold by German made Kodaks . I am probably going to upset a few folks but I find them a bit crude in design and manufacture, but at least they were cheap.
  5. A Pentex 6x7 would be my choice. As easy to use as a 35mm camera with high image quality and with the wooden grip a heavy weapon in a fight (grin)!
  6. The Leica 11 is the cheapest option as you will pay another 50 GBP for a 111 and when do you want slow speeds ? The Russian copies are a good cheap alternative but they never have the smooth winding of the genuine article. It is sad that some of the fake Leicas were made from the pre - war Feds as these are interesting in their own right. I have a 1937 Fed S which has an F/2 lens and a 1/000 th top speed. I also have a copy of a Leica 1 with a 10xxx serial number but it never came from Wetzlar as you soon discover when you wind it on.I think is was made from T34 tank parts. And as for buying Japanese alternatives, some are very good but if you are a badge snob they won't be for you. You don't buy a Ford if you always wanted a BMW even if they do virtually the same thing. Finally spend some time loading a screw thread Leica as it takes practice and is an acquired skill.
